Offline | Fuel Consumption Hi everyone, I've had my mini now about 9 months, (52 Plate) and have to say that fuel consumption is terrible, anybody else think this aswell, it goes through some amount of petrol. |

Offline | Just done 350 odd miles in my R56 Cooper. 20 to 25 deg C so aircon on most of the time. A mixed run of fast twisties with mostly M/way (and, lets say, not exactly going slow!!) and it returned 49mpg. This was worked out on brimful to brimful method too and confirmed with OBC. I reckon nearly 50mpg in a petrol fueled 'sporty' hatchback with aircon running is pretty damn brilliant!! SSL |

Offline | Aye, thought so too! (40 litre tank isn't it?) the segmented display had just gone to two bars left, with OBC indicating 72 miles to empty at M/way speeds. I reckon a lighter right foot and no aircon should easily see a 400+ mile range and 50 odd to the gallon. The R56 seems to have more than its fair share of faults and criticisms but I don't think fuel consumption is amogst them!! SSL Last edited by South Shore Lad : Apr 16th, 2007 at 05:28 PM. Offline | I just checked on the Mini.co.uk configurator: R56 tank is 40 litres - the R50/52/53 tank was 50 litres! So the actual range of the more economical R56 remains about the same as the original Mini. Why couldn't BMW have retained the 50 litre tank and increased the range? ![]() |

Offline | That's great! On the run I mentioned above I managed 560Km before filling and the OBC said I still had about 112Km to go. Not that I'd run on 'til empty - at best flippin' inconvenient - at worst it can damage the injectors and other bits!! Let's have plenty more people singining their praises of the R56! Offline | A very strange BMW decision. R56 'One', 'Cooper' and 'Cooper D' - 40 litre fuel tank R56 'S' - 50 litre fuel tank. Maybe BMW will offer the 50 litre tank as an option on the non 'S' models. ![]() |

Offline | Personally I think the economy of all MINI's in the range falls short of what you would normally expect. In the MCS it is a bit more understandable (although I still think its thirsty for a 1.6 unit) but with MINI Coopers and especially Ones I think 45mpg plus should be the kind of return seen by your average driver considering the relevant weights and power outputs of the cars. Having traded my MCS for a remapped VW TDI I have got quite used to a very good performance and economy mix. Having said that MINI's do lots of things better than my VW – its just that getting from point A to point B quickly and economically isn’t one of them. |

Offline | Compromise between mpg and performance Minis are a compromise between performance and MPG. I am quite pleased with the gas mileage of my 06 MCS. Although it is not great it is very good for the performance of the car and I have a blast burning that fuel. |
