Question Stick shift rental cars in the U.S.?

I've got an S on order and its been a long time since I have driven a stick (manual transmission). Unfortunately, I have no friends with a manual car for me to practice on so my only alternative is a rental. I am in Miami, but am wondering if any of you know of a car rental agency that rents stick shift cars in the U.S. ? If so how much did they charge? I'm only looking for a week or less of rental, just to get fluid again. Unfortunately all that my searches on google tearn up are European car rental agencies.
Thanks for the time-

An alternative would be to find a driving instructor with a stick shift car. An hour should be enough for you to shake off the rust.

Yeah what thegrommit said. You could probably find a learners course with a driving school for a little over $100. Just tell 'em you want to learn how to drive stick and they'll probably cut you a deal too.

And it would be much easier to find a u-haul than to find a stick rental car. All the big fleet rental agencies use automatics exclusively...

I guess you guys have not rented trucks in the past 10 years or so...... The automatic-only fever has also spread to the truck rental arena. I don't think you'd be able to find a U-Haul or Ryder truck for rent that wasn't automatic (even the larger trucks with 20+ foot cargo areas are now automatic-equipped).

It's simple economics. They want to rent to as many people as possible. Everyone can drive an automatic, but perhaps only 40% of Americans know how to drive manual transmissions. (sadly)

mug51, perhaps you could get some manual transmission practice by test driving cars at local dealers. Try Toyota, or VW, or Hyundai or whoever is selling manual transmission economy cars to get your hand on a stick shift.

U-Haul

I rented a U-Haul 5 speed truck about 3 weeks ago, in Florida.

Isn't Florida where everything Old ends up sooner or later??

Thanks guys-
yeah, you think it kind of weird that something that is still used today- appears to be so ancient in the rental car world. Since when has America decided "Hey, lets stop making driving fun, lets get rid of that godfangled manual transmission." What a joke!
Thanks for the help-

I went to a local truck stop that had some older Ford rental trucks with manual shift. U-Haul Agent.

Paid 29.95 for the day plus gas. We had some moving to do, and the truck was a pig, but it did have a manual tranny.

Call around, there has to be some in Miami area.

Good luck,
