just thought id share this thought i have just had the pleasure (and i use the term losely) of driving my friends 04 MG ZR 160 to have its exhaust replaced (btw it was only done in Aug and thats it done again) and i only drove it for about an hour to and from the repair centre and MY GOD how glad was i to get back in the MCS it really makes you apreciate how great our cars are how much better finished and better built. the handeling the power delivery *** it the whole car!!!!!
the MG 160 is ment to be the best of there range and its crap
i think all mini drivers should drive a crap car for a day just so when they get back in there mini's they appreciate them all the more
what did u find so rubbish about the ZR?
I had a ZR for 1 1/2 years and enjoyed it a lot. Internally its not great us u get the alcantara seats, air con etc and looks outdated but the driving experience isnt bad. Handles pretty well through the corners (mine was on avos tho) and is pretty quick. The 160s are far off the cooper s are they!? Just the vvc means u have to be rev happy with it all the time.
I admit the Mini is a nicer car, built better and feels more solid but i wouldnt say the MG is a terrible car to drive.
Know what you mean - I drove an R56 last week Runs & hides
Only messing guys
Had to extensively road test a Porsche Boxster for various intermittant faults - its the most rattley car I have driven for a long time
i just felt it was unresposive steering was very loose and the brakes which he has just had replaced were unreal felt like there was no braking unless you stamped on the pedel also for a car thats only done 28000 the gear box was loose and the distance between gear was huge.
Heh heh, yeah we had an 04 Mitsu L200 as a company pool car for a while. Found it quite scary to drive after the MINI... turn the wheel and nothing happens for about 3 seconds, at which point it nearly tips over Good fun trying to park as well, although ours did have the optional 'reversing sensor' (a.k.a. tow bar ) which someone kindly imprinted onto my MINI's rear bumper
Talking about rattling i drove my mates vx220 the other day, we had to shout to eachother because a loose engine mount was making so much noise i took him out in my smooth mini afterwards...much more satisfying.
Auto Corsa as a courtesy car from Mini.....it was like driving a tank!
When I took it back later that day I complained in no uncertain terms too. The previous user was a smoker who was unable to find the ashtray too so the car was very unpleasant.
Nasty little car!
I had a Chevrolet Cavalier (probably similar to a Corsa to you in the UK) for two weeks whilst my MCS was being fixed from its keying damage. Biggest piece of crap I've been in for a while ; was I ever happy to get my baby back!
