help required for my wide boy tax disk....

Hello all - I know a few of you have bought - as have I in a moment of 'wish I wasnt nearly 30' madness - a chrome tax disk holder...from the friend of the wide boy...ie Halfords...

After about three weeks I've used both sets of the apparently very sticky pads supplied to attach it to the window only to watch it fall off every time it's got hot...so now left with a very pretty disk holder that I have to bung on the dash every time I park and put on the front shelf when I drive to stop it flying off and smacking me in the face...which it has on three occassions!..

Anyone managed to find something suitably sticky (please insert your own punchlines here) to attach these lovely items to windscreens and can you let me know where you got them?

ok...anything that's not going to look like it was put together on Blue Peter!

Ok, fair point, should have refined that question - I could, of course, have used double sided tape, Blu Tack, Super Glue or pigeon phlegm.....but has anyone found some similar glue pad type replacement things?

Double sided tape is clear and very thin. With a bit of magic scissoring, I reckon you could make it not show

okey dokey....John Noakes would be proud..

Cheers Dom, what the hell, I'll give it a go...I can't risk forgetting the thing is loose on my dash again...hit a roundabout at usual Cooper speed and the thing flew around the dash hit the instrument binnacle and smacked me right in the face....which could have made for an interesting insurance claim.......!

Is it a Richbrook tax disc holder? The sticky pads that came with mine have held it firmly in place for about two years now

You can buy the Richbrook sticky pads for £3.00 at this site - http://www.speeding.co.uk/acatalog/w...lders_169.html

The curvature of the screen meant I needed 6 pads on the richbrook, just wedge it against your screen overnight to ensure the pads "cure" and it will be stuck fast. I used the owners manual folder to wedge it. Not fallen off yet despite being subject to some serious heat (for scotland ) and some serious G-forces

Ahh, you'd be amazed, reached double figures earlier this week!!....but what we keep quiet about is the Bhp boost we get on our cooper S compared to you folk living in areas with a normal ambient temperature!!

I must admit, switching the temp display to farenheit does make you feel warmer though!!

(just hold the auto button for 3 secs)

Know all about it...

Spent four years living in Edinburgh at Uni...possibly the coldest I have ever been in my life...especially in drafty student tenement flats...

Although there's something refreshing about an 80mph icy wind whistling up your back passage as you leave for lectures in the early morning...but then we could never get that gate shut into the yard (tee hee)
