Offline | new 06 mini s performance questions bought a new 06 min with 130 mileson it. prior to this purchase i tested an 06s convertible w 12000 miles on it,an 07 convertible w 1700 mi on it and an 05 s w over 20,000 miles on it. my car seems responsive but does not feel as powerful . to compare the 05 s went 0 to 30 in 1350 rpms . the 06 s convertible w 12000 miles went 0-30 in 1450 rpms. mine went 0-30 in 1450 rpms. but the s convertible would peel out in the same test. all just feel stronger than mine .is there a break in on the supercharger where it actually preforms or feels zippier after the 1200 mile factory break in period,or even as it gets more miles. agian mine doesnt lag but just doesnt feel as zippy or raw power. dealer was out of state (7hrs away ) and closest mini dealer is 3hrs .is there something i should have checked or will it get more stronger as the engine breaks in? has any one else experience this on these cars? all cars tested were sports package no lsp's . |

Offline | Your new engine will still be very tight and you just aren't going to get half decent performance from it with so few miles on the clock. The motor should gradually get better during its running in period up to 1200 miles, but will continue to improve after that. I would suggest that the improvement won't start to tail off until you've got at least 3-4,000 miles on the car. Relax, the performance discrepancy sounds perfectly normal to me. Offline | I must admit, the engine in my MCS never really loosened up during the time I had it. It felt the same on day one as it did 17,000 miles later. Not to say that all MINI's are the same though or that my engine was bad, just that it never really changed with mileage. |
