Stupid bump!

im sitting here fuming with myself.

Was at a junction and i bumped into the back of someone! That stupid typical thing!

I was busy watching the traffic of the road i was joining....i was rolling at the time. I SWEAR the car infront pulled away, due to the angle of the junction my head was turned practically over my shoulder. Glanced back and thump!!

its such a simple mistake. I got out soon as to make sure everyone was fine, no more than slightly shaken.

His precious mx5 has a dented rear bumper and mini has the same on the front with a dented radiator. Tried to move him out of the way but he just starts, and then cuts out.

I know the main thing is everyone is ok! But im still fuming with myself. stupid mistake!

All with insurance now, as a young driver (21) hopefully i wont get my humped too hard!

So everyone learn from my mistake, stop at a junction and make sure the car infront is clear of the junction before you even think about going.

What I hate is when the car in front will go then stop. That's when these things happen, so if you like it's their fault really. There is nothing worse than an indecisive driver.

Arrow Experience

Indecisive drivers are not a help on the road, but you should really be looking forwards if that's the direction you are driving. Especially if there is a car directly in front of you.

In this world, assume nothing.

Take an advanced driving test, it teaches you the finer appreciation of hazards, even if they appear simple. Doesn't reduce your insurance though, which i thought was naff.

Cheers,
K.

This is why hesitancy is one of the biggest cause of accidents. One of the first things you're taught, these days, when you learn to drive.

Done it a couple of times but luckily never hit anyone.

It was acceptable in the 80's

I did this yesterday too...

I was watching the woman in front of me, she drove off. I looked left, lorry, lorry gone... gap. Drive froward BUMP!!!!

Got out the car, I asked her politely why she had pulled away when there was a gap then stopped "I was worried that the lorry was going too fast"

What is your bloody accelerator pedal for?

I need new Aero bumper, new aero grill, spot light to be unbent... Damn

Still my fault, will always check thrice now... still, bloody hesitant drivers.

Oh, and no damage on her car. Phew.

Some make it their business.......

Glad to hear you guys have only had your pride dented!

On a cautious note, in Manchester and further north there are many incidents like this happening by design! Organised teams of people that drive in front of you, wait until you're too near/distracted then they slam the brakes on - they then claim on your insurance for a bad neck/spine injury - and they make fortunes from it.

One of the organised gangs that have just been caught doing this are Eastern European. Drivers have been advised not to argue with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watch out, there's a complete ***** about

"He fell for her like his heart was a mob informant, and she was the East River."

Right, damage report from my similar prang:

- Cracked passenger side perspex - need a whole new headlight (!)
- Small dent between said light and grill
- Bent driving light, this has also mashed the aero grill up
- Cracked lower aero front bumber
- Bonnet knocked out of kilter, does not shut properly (looks like R56... joking!)

Solution:

- New headlight ordered (they don't just do perspex!)
- Dent needs to be filled, then whole bonnet repainted - gets rid of all the chips and the other dents then!!
- Driving light caliper was just bent, will be straightened, and new aero grill put on
- New front aero bumper will be put on
- New bonnet hinge to be put on and re-alligned

Going into the bodyshop on Weds next week, pick it up on Saturday... it's basically having a whole new front end! Hehe... He's going to look gorgeous again!

I feel sad how he looks at the moment

Will keep you up dated.

Jay

Oh no, it is a nightmare when things like this happen. Hope you both get your cars fixed as good as new.
