Scotland Mini GP Vs. Porsche Boxter

The strangest thing has happened today. I saw a nice porsche boxter at the garage just down the road and, in jest, said to the missus, "can I get that?. She said "if you want".
Same response when I brought up the GP, "get one if you want"

So the question, GP or Porsche ?

No, the real question is "What does SHE want?"

The Boxster is a nice car all right, not sure I could make that choice easily myself! Probably plump for GP - too many Boxsters about.

<ok, so I've had a small drink .........>

Dude ... you live in Scotland. You really want to be driving round in a homosexual car which everyone knows is just a poor mans 911?

Buy a real man's car with a hairy chest and big bollox. Buy the GP. You won't be seeing many others - it is special in every way, and it tells the world you have testosterone, not ovaries.

You know you want to - I guarantee you won't regret it.

If your talking a standard GP I would take the Porsche. It might be a poor mans 911 but sounds and handles just as good against the weedy sounding GP. Prob is a standard GP is a dressed up Works minus the seats and few BHP more. MINI missed a trick with it. Think the Porsche has a more sense of occasion....................sorry GP owners

The door does look dodgy on that example, would steer clear if I were you.

The real question here Birdog is why are you asking your missus if you can buy a car?

You should go out and buy both, and if she complains, tell her that you can get 20 more birds like her (particularly with your new cars) if she keeps nagging you.

You gotta keep 'em in line.

Wouldnt say the Boxster is the poor mans Porsche thats silly as its not a poor mans car full stop, I know the age old theory behind it but it doesnt amount to anything
Ford Ka...poor mans Mondeo? ... Id say check the Insurance, servicing costs and ofcourse test drives and make your choice. Am sure the Mini will tick a lot of the boxes in the cost side though

Well, If you had the choice, forget the price.
A Boxter or 911?
Hence, why its known as the poor mans 911, theres 1 reason you get it, because you cant afford a 911! sad, but true.
A GP on the other hand, is a top of the range within its class, not the most pratical but as someone else said, screams testostorone where ever you go.

However! I'd still get the boxter ! Mini's are nice, no doubt, but porsche, whatever model, is just in a league of its own. They earn respect.

I agree, the boxter is a poor mans 911, and I can afford the boxter, but not a 911.

The reason the boxter jumped out at me is, its a porsche, so its a nice nippy car, and its a convertable and its been really really sunny around these parts recently.

The reason a GP jumped out is............its a GP and I have drooled over the GP`s for about a year now.

Think it will be the GP, I can get a porsche anytime, but the GP is hard to come by and i`ll be kicking myself forever if I don`t get one for a little while at least.

Do we agree ?

I have lost count of how many great cars I have owned but the GP is by far the best car I have ever owned

Also, I`m married, If I were to go and just buy both, listen to her complain and then go off with 20 other burds, she would divorce me, take presicly half of my nice new GP and porsche (chainsaw down the middle), half of my cat, house and paypacket for the rest of my life, then I wouldn`t be able to afford any kind of porsche, poor mans or otherwise, I`d be back in a rusty fiesta.

United-States Boxster or Boxster S

If it is a Boxster S I would take the Porsche if not I'd take the GP. There hasn't been a "Poor Mans Porsche" since the demise of either the 914 or 924. Boxster's are world class sports cars not poor man's Porsches.
