Someone has reversed into my MINI.

Hi all.

Well today I had to drive back down to Liverpool, because although I'm back home for a week to revise for my upcoming Uni exams, I've still got to do my part time Tesco shifts down in Liverpool...

After I'd done my horrendus 9-6 shift, I returned to my car early evening to find that someone has reversed into it!

Thankfully the damage is not too bad, although my car is a 2006 model, the ONE D retained the original style bumpers, so its the long chrome bar along the rear bumper which has taken the blow. Its 'dented' in two areas, one is worse than the other, with it being down to the black plastic underneath. So it looks like I'll need a new chrome strip.

Does anyone know how much one of these costs, inc fitting, because given that I managed to bugger up the fitting of two mirror caps, I don't think I'll be up to the job of fitting it....

I just wish people would treat other peoples property with some respect! I'm now going to be forking out for a new piece of trim through no fault of my own!

Any advice would be great.

James.

Could you maybe try a few scrap yards and see if they have one, it would keep the cost down a bit.
I had a MR2 years ago and had it broken into 2 nights on the trot so i got a replacement side window from a scrapyard.

Thats a horrible thing to happen. I can sympathise with you because my car has been scraped by someone who clearly can't park their car. Hope you get you MINI fixed soon!

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'll be sure to check out 1320 autos and MINI Matt spares.

I wont be able to get it fixed for a couple of weeks though, until I get paid. I hadn't expected to have to fork out for such a thing.

So unfortunately I don't have the cash at the mo, the joys of been a student eh?!

It would have been nice for someone to leave me a note, but there was nothing left. If I saw a similar incident, I would also leave a note... but I suppose the fact no one did just reflects the attitude of todays society!

James.

Was just about to suggest the same as Ste, hopefully you wont have any more bad luck for the forseable future doh!...be nice if Mini did it for free again like they did your mirrors...but think this one is gonna cost you.

Ive seen and heard of people banging there doors against other peoples cars whilst both owners have been there at the same time and the gulity party when qustioned has arrogantly said" Wasnt me, prove it"...only need it to have been someone like that and your stuffed.

Horendous 9-6? take it you just ment a bad shift? as i do more than that everyday

Ste R, thanks for the suggestion

It was parked in an NCP cap park, in the centre of Liverpool., because the Tesco I work at is only a Metro in the town centre.

I know it would probably be wise to ask them to check, but I cant imagine that they would properly sift through over 10hours of footage for me, even if they agreed to check I bet they would just ring back and say they haven't found anything.

My house mate at Uni also had his 1 series reversed into and they said they couldn't see anything - unluckily for him though he has the M sport bumpers on his car, so it could turn out to be expensive, given that someone has also keyed the door of it.

James.

Thanks mate, but like I say I think I'm just going to have and grin and bear the cost of the bumper insert... I cant imagine that it will be TOO expensive though?!

Yeh just meant a bad shift, I'm working 40+ hours a week over summer (did the same last year) to pay my parents back for the car, so used to putting the hours in, unlike most students

I reckon though if I save £50 a week from my earnings I could have a nice pot of £800 by the end of summer to potentially treat my car to a few mods. Dunno what I'd do to it though.

James.

you could invest in an invisable forcefield around the car...£799.99 from Halfrauds

We had a car damaged in a main car park with CCTV and when we asked them to check the cameras, we discovered that they only monitor the stairwells and the entrance / exit (in a 12 storey car park).

So the message is don't get attacked near your car!!

hope it does not cost too much.
