Offline | More details. If you're wondering who what and how, here's some more details. "In every category, the panelists judged each shortlisted engine using their subjective driving impressions and technical knowledge, and took into account characteristics such as fuel economy, smoothness, performance, noise and driveability. The jurors each had 25 points to spend on their five favourite engines in each class. The maximum points that could be allocated to one engine was restricted to 15, while the minimum reward was one mark. An engine could not be tied for the top slot." 1.4-litre to 1.8-litre 1. Offline | Amazing the score difference between the top two and those further down the list. The MINI One engine didn't do so well though. And although not listed the Peugeot-Citroën/Ford Diesel must be a version of the one fitted to the MINI? |

Offline | That's how it has been sold to us by BMW/MINI. That BMW were effectively in charge of the technical design of the engine, whereas PSA were also involved, they were mostly there for financial power/production practicality and to "make it fit" to their designs as well as the MINIs. |

| Dodgey, er, dodgem driver | Great news ![]() The Toyota Hybrid is cack - From friends experience. Very unreliable and coarse. However, the Civic 1.8 is a gem. Sounds good and pulls well. Then theres the Mini engine, which pulls like a steam train, and will be more reliable than a wood burning stove once up and running. |

Offline | Does BMW give you much feedback on how the new car is selling because some people on the site keep saying it is'nt selling well, judging by the fact they never told you making the engine of the year, maybe not? |

Offline | Its doing pretty good considering we can keep up with demand and were always breaking records for how many cars were building per hour. There always making us faster but still have cars coming in so its doing pretty well. The R52 is slowly dyeing off now, which is a god send because they are the hardest engines to make. |
