Offline | 25th May 2007: 72.4mpg. 104 g/km C02. No batteries required. Impressive News.. Mini today announced it will fit many of the Efficient Dynamics tech already seen on the 1-series to all new hatchbacks fitted with the new PSA engines. The result? A Cooper D will now emit just 104g/km of CO2 - matching the signficantly more expensive Toyota Prius. And average fuel consumption on the diesel climbs to 72.4mpg - around eight miles further than before - to beat even the petrol-electric Prius. Click 'Next' to read all about the technology that makes such impressive figures possible without resorting to complicated hybrid systems. 25th May 2007: Increased driving pleasure, reduced fuel consumption: the new MINI in the model year 2008 25th May 2007: Increased driving pleasure, reduced fuel consumption: the new MINI in the model year 2008 More details on the 2008 model year in the above article, including details on new cruise control and USB integration. | Are we nearly there yet? | So now it's ALL MINIs! A previously-reported article suggested it was just the One that would benefit. This news (if true) will surely be a little kick in the nuts for those who have a car on order already? And (if true) I assume this will come with it's own news in the shape of another price-hike? Offline | WOW, they are great figures for the MINI. Prius is a big con, I think Toyota realised they had designed & built a rubbish car they they would never sell normally, but make it Hybrid, and they could guarantee that the greenies would buy a few of their '45mpg tops scam, little do they know that my Toyota engined OneD is 'cleaner' heheee ![]() Remember to leave it in gear when at the lights though !! Shift light, just like a 1980's VW Polo special edition![]() |

| Are we nearly there yet? | And AutoExpress have now picked up the story: MINI | Auto Express News | News | Auto Express They focus on the prospect of the cars falling out of the road-tax bracket thanks to the reduced emissions. But surely all that will happen is the government will move the goal-posts if too many cars appear that escape tax? |

Offline | Some people will find something to moan about even when they hear exciting, good news.... I've only heard great things about the CooperD from anyone who's driven it, and this fuel economy makes it an even more desirable MINI If the whole range can benefit from these fantastic modifications, that's very cool! Even if BMW raise the prices a little, the money a driver saves in fuel during the first year will no doubt make up for it ![]() |

| One Life, Live It!! | Autocar have this but with the 1 Series this week. Instead of doing 50 odd to the gallon, it now does about 60, buy having things like low friction tyres, cover over the radiator so it warms up quicker and keeps heat in when starting up after being sat there to cool down, and loads of other bits. Very impressed - And I don't even believe about global warming and that swindal - BUT, Im all for saving MY money ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Great news, which has got me thinking I will be looking at a MCS next time Maybe that's part of the plan - the more efficient the MCS becomes the more likely buyers are to buy the flagship model (I hesitate to say upgrade as my Cooper is Fab) |

Offline | Yep, but this surely will also help push the Diesel even further up the list for many who may not have even been considering a MINI. A MINI before now has, in my view, pretty much been a car you want, you want a MINI, you get one. Now it may actually be a car "sensible people" factor in due to it's running costs and such, which in the UK has never been a particularly strong point of the car.
