Offline | HI I own an MCS and a Porsche Boxter S The mini is superb as so is the Porsche. However, I would not buy an old Porsche as they are expensive to get fixed. You can buy a Boxter for £20k but I would not recommend it. However, with the top down and the noise of the 3.2 is fantastic. But you cant beat the charm of a mini. Everyone loves it, in fact more people came out to see my Mini when I bought it to work on its first day. If you can try to save up another £10K and buy your dream car, a 3 year old boxter. Youve had a Mini now save up and try something totally different. However, if you really want a new car now go for an MCS it sounds like you need to have the fastest mini if your a Boxter type. Go for a Private sale from autotrader, they will have been offered stupid money from a dealer and will just want an offer above what the dealer has offered. This is what I did when I bought my MCS. I paid a 3rd less than what it was new after 2 years and 13K miles. |

Offline | Sorry Fun - I didn't mean you, no offence. £15k-20k to buy straight out with Cash - no finance is a fabulous way to be! I wish I could come in to a lump sum of cash like this, unless it was from someone passing away from the will. That doesn't make loosing someone any better. |

Offline | The TT is a lovely car but it doesn't stir anything for me. My parents have just bought a cabrio 2.2 Quatro version 2004 reg. Lovely but not my type of car. The R56 One might leave you feeling like you spent alot of cash for not much different to your existing car. If I was you I would go for the slightly used S - the performance that you may have craved for but the same space to fit all your kids in. And its very special but not too special to worry about parking it down side roads etc. |

Offline | Second hand MCS for sure. You'd be able to get a pretty new one, with all prolems sorted (hopefully) low milage and still have money to spare. Ah, a new Mini, I'm actually excited for you! ![]() |

Online | I'd go for a 2005/2006 MCS with some warantee and maybe TLC left, imo it's not worth spending the money on a new ONE as you'll be dissapointed to have spent lots of money for something which is only a bit better. Going from a ONE to a cooper s will obviously be a huge improvement and I don't think you'll wish you had a R56 as you'll be so happy with what you got. Although you should consider the worsening fuel consumption. Apparently the new Cooper D is a very good car and is a challenger for the R53 Cooper S, and will also have good fuel consumption but its just depends whether you can get over the stigma of a diesel. Also I think many of the R56's currently for sale are liekly to be rejections and the like so I would personally stay clear of 2nd hand R56's for a while. ![]() Crammy |
