Interesting that our police were of no use whatsoever to you when you faced real risk of injury on the hard shoulder. Rest assured though they will intervene when its adds least value to you.

Hi,
Glad you got this sorted - pretty dangerous place for it to happen.

This is why the thin plastic key is always in my wallet, in my pocket..

Cheers, Geoff.

I remember Damo getting out of his mini on a run to take a picture and somehow the car locked itsself with the engine running fortunately the window was open about an inch about 3 of us levered the glass back enough so he could reach the keys.

Hi Geoff

In the new Mini, you don't get the plastic key anymore

Glad all is OK Stu, good job nothing else happened whilst on the hard shoulder.....

A friend of mine recently told me a similar story. His car was a Mondeo I think; he and some friends went walking in the Peak District. He parked up in a public car park, and left the car running whilst using the boot (not sure why - probably the beer cooler), but after they all get thier walking boots on, they just shut the boot and walked off.

When they got back, he was surprised to see the car still there, still unlocked, and still running..........about 4 hrs in all. At least the beer was cold.

My mum used to come home, get out of t he car, engine running door open, she'd be sitting having a cup of tea before she realised.

car was safe though - she used to have a Metro.....
