| Hangin at the Krusty Krab | Spurious speedo..... On the way to work this morning, I've had some bizarre instrument "activity". Everything was normal for about 5 mins, then suddenly the ASC and type pressure lights came on and stayed on. Pulled over, turn off the ignition, then turned it back on. Same lights remained on, but the speedo started bouncing off zero, the temp gauge went to full and other lights started flashing - almost as if the speedo kept resetting itself. So, I turned off the ignition, then back on again, and all was well...........until about 10 mins later, when the speed started bouncing, temp gauge went to full and lights flashed again a couple of times, before reverting to normal whilst driving (slightly off-putting ). This happend perhaps 4 times, then the ASC and tyre pressure lights came back on.On arriving at work, 5 mins later I turned off the ignition....waited....then switched back on, and the temp gauge stayed on full, and the lights stayed on...... I'm guessing that there's a short somewhere as everything else was fine. Has anyone else seen this? |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | First thing I would try is a software reset. Often these weird goings on are caused by the BCU (body control unit) getting it's knickers in a twist. Sit in your car with keys in the ignition. Press and hold the button on the speedo and while still holding turn the ignition to position two and release. You should now see test and a number. Keep pressing the button until test 19 appears and wait a couple of seconds. You should now see i log off, i log on flashing. When it says i log off press the button again. Now use the button to get to option 21.0 and wait. This will now perform a software reset. More details can be found in the FAQ, Interior, How to show RPM, Fuel Level, Speed and more on your Odometer Digital Display. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | Nope the maps are held in ROM not RAM so are not lost or reset otherwise they'd go if you disconnected the battery too. You're effectively restarting the software that makes the control modules work. It's like resetting your PC when something goes wrong. When it restarts all your programs are still there. Your map is like a program. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |
