Hi all,

I spotted a Cooper in my work car park this morning, sporting a MINI2.COM car sticker. How can I get hold of one (the sticker that is - not the Cooper) ?

Does it come with Privilege membership ?

A long time ago BMW said we could not sell or provide anything with MINI2 on it. Tricky.

But people do make and send them out for free.

Try a search for stickers and you'll find them for sure.

Is it not worth re-approaching BMW and seeing what they say now that MINI2 is such a well known name in the MINI community?

Some people have done several times, thats how alot of us have them - but technically its still illegal if its seen as infringing BMWs copyright. I don't understand how BMW can complain about printing "MINI2.com". Its not like anyone is printing the MINI logo

i ate some mini cheddars the other day, i'm sure they don't infringe bmws copyright

does it only count if its an auomative product

Its to do with product relation and perception of branding.
O'h and BMW been mean old ....................

We actually took the sensible step of clearing the use of the MINI2 name, seeking reassurances that MINI2 was different to and unique from "MINI" well in advance of launching the site in 2001.

These included things such as no selling of anything branded MINI2, no downloads or hosting of official BMW PDF documents (fitting instructions and so on), and various other things like certain phrases to be included our site disclaimer, copyright notices and so on.

You could argue, but when you're a little one man band talking to BMW, you tend to smile politely and agree.

Backhanded compliment? Thin end of wedge? At least (probably due to our size, the fact it is one word "MINI2" and prior clearance of using the name) we got to keep our name, several other sites and business' were not so fortunate.

Sure it was frustrating, sure you could give examples of double standards on certain restrictions we had imposed, but we're still here, and growing all the time, as the MINI becomes a more popular "World Car", and BMW/MINI treat us very well. So you can't really grumble!

Hear hear! Big bad miserable spoilsport BMW! They should be chuffed to have such a vibrant and enthusiastically pro-MINI online community.....

I was wondering how to adapt the MINI UNITED 2007 sticker, but it just wouldn't work!

and on this subject, how's the Apple (Computers) versus Apple (Music publishers/record label) battle going on.

I believe they reached a stand off in a "you don't do music, we won't do computers" and vice versa sort of agreement , but I heard it got heated again when Apple started doing the iPod/music downloads etc !!

I find this kind of odd and stupid all the same. I mean, this is a site that PROMOTES MINIs and at best a sticker is nothing more than a free advert for them. Pretty lame if you ask me.

Also, I have a sticker from MINI2.Info that was given to me by them. How are they getting away with it but you can't?
