Thumbs down Its not just Mini owners that get bad treatment - BMW owners are treated bad too

My Dad has bought a new shape BMW 3 series coupe, after only a couple of hundred miles it developed a major fault, the dealer inspected it & ordered a part but told him it was safe to drive.
They rang him to say the part was in & to bring the car in. He asked about transport to work & was told he could have a lift. On getting there there were no drivers so he got a taxi
On the second day he was told it was the wrong part & the correct part would take at least 2 weeks - & that the car wasn't safe to drive
He asked about a loan car & was told they had none. He expressed his displeasure & was told to ring BMW. They told him another branch of the same dealer would find him a car.
He explained that his grandchildren from France are due this week for their summer holidays & he wants to take them on days out.
The other branch called to say they had no cars available & that a car rental company would contact him. They did & offered him a Vauxhall. He said if he wanted to drive a Vauxhall he would have bought one & saved some money.
He contacted his dealer again but they just keep telling him to ring BMW. That was last Friday, I had to lend him my Mini to go to a wedding at the weekend but at this point BMW still havn't come up with anything

Very poor show there!

I can't believe a dealer is not able to muster a car from within the network...

Dad had a similar situation with his last Mercedes - they genuinely didn't have a car to loan him, so they pulled a Signature car off the forecourt for him to use.

Best of luck to him - I hope it gets sorted ASAP.

My old man had problem with his Mercedes too. Ordered a part went to have it fitted and it was the wrong one.

So next time they got Enterprise to drop off a Merc and take his away to get fixed, then dropped it off.

My old mans aint an S class or something big, its a c-class.

Im surprised at BMW.

my mums chrysler went in and they gave her a brand new dodge with about 10 miles on it!

But it was manual so the next day they brought another (an automatic) and took the first back. Again it was almost new!

I know its a chrysler, but what top service!

With just a couple of hundred miles on a new car that develops a major fault and that level of service surely you have a case to reject the car

Reject is a very simple word to say.... but a very lengthy process to go through.

If the fault is isolated to one part, I'd rather see that part changed than go through the rejection process.

Good on them though for getting a loan beemer out to your old man - eventually.

Sounds about right, if you want top service and dealer back up then apparently Lexus and Toyota are tops, all the rest are pretty much of a muchness. The problem I found with my local MINI dealer was they were always too busy, you had to book the car in weeks in advance and to book a courtesy car 12 months in advance as for Peugeot and Peugeot dealers

I have what I think is a problem with car and it's been in twice with the dealer and they say there is nothing wrong with the car when there plainly is. I have e-mailed the dealer Principle and been ignored and e-mailed Peugeot customer services twice and each time they have replied saying they have spoken at length with my dealer and there is nothing wrong with the car. Their latest e-mail was bascally telling me to naff off

Like I said before my next car will definitely be a Toyota.
