England Traction Control on/off

I wonder if any one can shed some light on this for me. I have had my mcs about 6 months and last night decided to turn the traction control of for a while. As soon as I turned if off my MCS felt like it was alive. It seems to be a lot faster, & with my new tyres fitted two days ago I have all the grip I need.

So does any one know if the mini cooper s is faster with the traction control off?

Normally it would not cut in till the car is loosing traction. And when it does you just feel as if the you've not pressed teh throttle for a second.

Without it you will end up spinning wheels etc... but cant see you going any faster.

Strange one though.

The traction on some cars is more delayed and far more vigerous when it does come on. I had issues with mine being very quick to go on and being very on/off. A change at the dealer saw this become far more progressive but now it can cause significant acceleration reduction imo. Switch it off and the car is like a rocket...but with 220ish I leave it on in a vain attempt to stop me burning through tyres

I'd guess that with traction control on it may soften the throttle response (ie less opening of throttle butterfly for the same amount of pedal movement or slower opening of the butterfly) in the lower gears, but its unlikely it limits the peak power or torque in the max speeds. Accelleration may be affected but top speed wont be.
