Offline | I recently started looking into getting a MINI after taking my 07 GTI to the dealer about once a month for a car that is only 6 months old, and now i am 99% sure that it is a lemon . I really like the MCS, but was wondering what I can expect quality wise from this car. Are there any wide sread issues with this car? Annoying rattles? How does the alignment hold? How is the overall quailty of the car? My GTI has had 2 computer chips replaced, one for the engine and one for a passenger door. Has anyone had any of these issues?Any advice/info is greatly appreciated. |

Offline | If you don't like rattles, don't get a MINI. ![]() I think that generally, it's quite a well-built car, but I'd say that VW is better for sure. That said, I wouldn't choose a VW over a MINI because the MINI has something special about it. The Cooper S is a great car, and I don't doubt you'll love it. There are numerous issues about; obviously they don't affect everyone and every car. Have a search and you'll find that almost everything has been asked before. ![]() |

Offline | Just to add: I absolutely love my MINI and, at the moment, couldn't imagine having anything else. But if you're expecting VW build quality, I think you'll be disappointed. |

Offline | Indeed. ![]() I know several people that have VWs and they're absolutely solid; not a rattle. That said, thinking about it, I think the MINI is very well built except for the interior. But then again, that's not so much build quality as the materials used I think. ![]() Last edited by S33BBY : Jul 15th, 2007 at 10:01 PM. |

Offline | I just don't want to go from one problem car to another. And some of the posts on here would make it seem that way. But this is probably the case on every car forum cause no one posts to say they have a perfect car. ![]() |

Offline | No troubles on our 2004. MINI did replace the A/C compressor becuse of a leak. It had a bit of a dash rattle when new, but self-sorted once it settled in. Very minor sunroof rattle on very rough roads, but I think only when very hot as I've not heard that lately. Much quieter than my VW (which was a '74 bug) that I had long ago.. |
