Angry Cat Scratch Fever!!!

This morning I found dirty white cat fur all over my Cooper. I couldn't find any scratches (haven't washed it yet), but I'm not sure if the damn thing will use my car for nightly lodging. The question I have is...Does anyone know of any methods or products available to keep cats away or off of cars? I already suggested to my wife that I am willing to camp out with a gun and ax and simply wait, but she didn't go for that.
by the way...My car isn't garaged, but it is parked in a carport (photo attached).

Can't blame the cat; it's just got good taste and wants to curl-up with your MINI, especially when it's warm! Perhaps you should supply a cat ladder to provide easy access on-and-off the bonnet.

I do have a Mini car cover, but it is a pain in the you know what to put on. And I don't want to put it on a dirty car(it's rainy season here now). I did happen to find a powder (sand??) that is supposed to keep cats and dogs away. We'll see how it works!

As someone who owns cats, well my parents do, I know there is not a product on the market that prevents cats from going where they please. Trust me, my neighbours used everything to keep our cats off their lawn and nothing worked. Lion poo, cat scarers, barbed wire, they tried it all, so don't waste your money on these products.

Sprinkle a little pepper over the bonnet. They love that.

Doesn't work. They may sneeze and sniffle but they'll still sit there it they want too. Same goes for orange peal. The scent is too strong for their noses but it doesn't stop them going somewhere if they want too.

I think I recently saw the perfect method of deterring Animals off both your Garden & Car on a recent Gardening Show.
Its basically a PIR detector which activates a hosepipe blast onto the offending Beast.

So as well as leaving your car clear of Pawprints, you also get it washed for Free

Heres one version of it, although I think you can also get ones that just aim the water directly at the point of detected movement.

I used to have a (very classy!) garden ornament that looked realistically like a sitting cat and it had reflective eyes. This was a fantastic repellent - never had ANY trouble with cats!

I'd hose it down... the car not the cat.. so it's nice and wet surely the cat won't want to sleep on it then...

or wax it real nice so the cat slides right off, tho it may scratch it in the process

A hose pipe blast at a cat would surely scare it, but when cats are scared they dig their claws in! You would have more than a few cat hairs to worry about, probably have deep scratches. Leaving your car wet is a good idea, as cats hate water.

I have to admit that that would work. Cat trainers use spray bottles to discourage cats from doing things that you don't want them to. Works a treat and is totally humane.

A nearby cat sleeps on our £40k BMW roof during the summer months.

I don't mind, nor do I get angry!

I had this issue years ago when I used to park my (now 14 years young) Audi Cabrio outside. A cat took a liking to the soft-top and liked to claw at the threading. Drove me insane!!! Found the best solution was by using one of those cat scaring PIR detectors which emit a high frequency whistle - think I saw one here in the UK for about £20 recently. I did also use a cover which was a bit of a hassle particularly when it got wet.

The best solution was moving home to a place that had a huge garage - sorted. Btw cats don't like water but don't spray them when on your car as they'd probably scratch the paint as they leg it!

I find a blow torch does wonders!
Looks like you're in Japan, go buy yourself a BB gun, then in the words of Elmer Fudd "Sssh.. I'm hunting wabbits"... but it's cats instead.

Update:
I tried a herbal powder (available in Japan) and found that it didn't work. It only made my carport smell horrible. I went and got that high frequency whistle (with a motion detector). It seems to be working fine. The cats don't even set off the motion detector for the lights in the carport anymore. I love the idea of the sprinkler. That will be on my list for next summer when I plan to redo my lawn!!
Thanks again for all of the tips and advice!!

Perhaps an option such as this may do the trick :

(Sorry if anyone is offended, I do like cats really).
