Offline | Heated Front Screen Upgrade Hi Has anyone tried to upgrade their mini by fitting a heated front screen (which is part of the visabily pack) . If so how successful have you been and what tips and tricks can you pass on. I have done my research and worked out what wiring is needed and the parts i need to buy, but i am not sure if the General Module Control Unit that controls this function will have to be programed to enable this function? Can anyone shed some light on the subject? Many thanks Tony |

Offline | Hi Tony, welcome to MINI2 .... This would certainly be one of those items that if not factory fitted surely would not be worth the hassle ![]() Not only would you have to get the correct wiring, but you'd also need a new heater control panel with a button to activate the screen, plus then you'd need the screen itself. I can't realistically see it as being worthwhile I'm afraid... I do have it fitted (as part of the vis pack) on my car though, and it's mightily effective). Jon ![]() |

Offline | Hi I have been used to Fords for the last 5 years and the heated screen in these is truly worth it in my opinion. With a bit of searching the breakers yards, im confidant i will find a control panel and my screen needs replacing under insurance anyway as it has a crack it in. I up for a challange and i think it can be done with not too much hassle. I just need to know if the GEM module needs programming. I have all the wiring diagrams for the car and it is not that complicated. My first job this weekend it to track down the wiring to see if it is already fitted to the car. |

Offline | I've only had to use mine on about three occasions when it was iced up but I've used it quite a lot for demisting the screen and it's great for that. ![]() ![]() |
