What garage width will allow you to get out of Mini?

Just having some work done on the house & getting a garage for the MIni - however I am worried when I look at the garage.
Knowing how big the doors are on the Mini I am not sure if it will be possible to get out !
I cant get the car near the garage to try at the moment
The width is 222cm
The doorway is198cm

The overall width of the MINI is 1925mm (or 1688mm without the door mirrors) so with the mirrors out you'll have 27.5mm clearance either side driving in, and 147.5mm either side once in.

If you fold your mirrors in and park, say 10cm from the wall on the passenger side, you'll have 43.2cm of space to get out.

With doors as big as they are on the MINI, I think you're going to struggle!

Dropping the window helps loads as it curves inwards at the top. My garage i so small i got the chalk out and drew a Mini on the floor way back in 2002 just to be on the safe side. Looks like I will have to redraw it now for a clubman.

Where I used to live, the gagage was that small I had about 12mm either side of the mirror as I went through the doors! Im sure with your precision driving Mikey you can get the car nice and close to the passenger side, to maximise the space you have to get out, as Shaun says drop the window as this will help or go on a diet

Good job I've got my window closer module fitted then
Anyway - thats the least of my problems - They cut the hole for the door from the extension to the house without coming inside - half of it is in the kitchen - half under the stairs

There's a company that sells something especially for that function, might have seen it in a classic mag, I'll dig it out.

Door Guard

They can even engrave a logo into the foam for you!

That was in March '07 issue of Mini World in case anyone's interested.

I park so my door opens between 2 wall studs, roll my window down, and perform an amazing contortion to exit my MINI.
I'll have to measure the clearance and let you know what's possible.
