Offline | Will MINI Diesel run on tax free vegetable oil? No big government announcements were made but it has been legal to run a diesel vehicle on vegetable/ cooking oil since 30th June 2007 without paying any fuel duty as long as you use less than 2500 litres per annum, (over 20,000 miles at 40mpg......... from 9p a litre). Vegetable oil - the new diesel DieselVeg |

Offline | I know the problem with some VAG engines was the fuel pump they used when running it on oil. The Bosch(I think) fuel pump used on the 1.9PD engine would have problems on cold days with the oil thickening up if you had more than 35% oil:diesel mixture in it. Not sure if this will have anything to do with Biofuel. |

| 05 MCS BEP | If it's a diesel motor, then it should be able to run on bio diesel (not straight vegetable oil). A friend of mine has equipment in his home to convert used cooking oil to bio diesel to run his van. He says it costs him $4.00CDN a month to run his van. He gets used cooking oil from McDonalds, Chinese restaurants and fish n chip shops for free... I would not be able to confirm if a MINI D will run using bio diesel, though. Good luck with it. 05MCS BEP - Alta 22mm rear anti-swaybar, Madness CAI, (15% pulley soon to be installed) |

Offline | The problem is normally one of two things: 1)waxing up when cold and poor start performance, or 2) Wearing out the pump pretty quicky, veg oil and bio-diesel are not as good a lubricant as good old fossil diesel. If your gonna try buy a knackered old fiesta, don't try it on your MINI! |

Offline | Passed several old bangers taking part in the Ramshackle Rally when I was driving down to Italy last month ![]() Ramshackle Rally On the Mercedes forums quite a few people seem to be running even quite modern diesels on veg oil but most have a small separate tank for pure diesel which is used only for starting and cold running then switch over to veg oil or various mixes of veg oil / diesel when warmed up. |
