Offline | Help Me! I am ordering my car today but have a dilemna that I need some neutral advice on.....my husband wants to get a Cooper S, I am almost as happy to get just a Cooper. In Australia, the Cooper with Xenons comes in at around $43,000 on the road and the S $52,000. The car is going to be predominantly mine. the thing is I'm starting to feel sick at spending over $50,000 for a car! Albeit a car that I have coveted since they were released. Any one out there buy the Cooper and now wish they'd gone straight for the S? Or anyone that regrets buying the S and thinks they would have been just as happy with the Cooper? (I think I already know the answer to that one!) |

Offline | Hey NikkiB! I'm Nikki too.. hehe I originally looked at getting a Cooper Cabrio but couldn't get enough funds so ended up going for a Cooper hardtop... Don't get me wrong the Cooper is pretty damn zippy but after I got it I started wondering should I have went for an "S" needless to say I'm lookin' at gettin' an "S" in a cabrio for my next MINI! ![]() What about gettin' a used one from a dealer? You'll save yourself a few $$$ and you might be surprised at what you get! ![]() |

Offline | Hi NikkiB, I went straight for the S and I don't regret it at all - a few years ago (when I was under 25 and insurance was too high and my income was a lot lower) I did consider getting a Cooper and opted against it as I needed to get a drumkit around at the time (and even the S doesnt have room for that :P). Looking back I probably would have gone for an 2nd hand S as the other Nikki put it. Remember it is not "Just a Cooper" as you quoted, you will still be as much a part of the family as what everyone else will be ![]() btw, I should also let you know I went a little crazy on options as I figured that as I am spending that much I may as well make it perfect.... It ended up costing me a bit more than I originally thought but now that I have it that part is forgotten... I probably havent helped much, you have some exciting times ahead so good luck with ordering your very own MINI! |

Offline | Thanks for the replies - ordered a Cooper S today. I feel so relieved now that I've put pen to paper, now it's just the long wait until it arrives! (and I agree, it is not "just" a Cooper - if they sold them here I probably would have been just as happy with a One!) |
