Thule Atlantic 200 top box and a Mount Blanc roof rack on an R53

For anyone who is considering fitting a Thule 200 top box (440 litres) and / or and Mount Blanc roof rack to their R50 / R53 and wonders what it looks like, it looks like this.

I couldn't find a single picture anywhere before I bought it so, hopefully, this might help someone else

If anyone would like to know what it's like to use, just post away

Tigger.

I've been thinking about a roof box for my checkmate for when we go camping, can you post any pictures from the front of the car.

Also can you remove the top box, and leave the roof rack in-place?

Cheers, Matt

Matt

Yes, you can undo the top box, lift it off and leave the bars in place without even using any tools in the case of the Thule.

Here's the only picture I've taken from the front so far.....

If its not to rude to ask, how much did the box & rack cost?

The real problem is though, what do you do with the roof box & rack for the other 11 months of the year when it is not on your car? Garages are not the biggest in new houses! Once i've tucked the cooper up in there for the night, theres not enough room to swing a cat, never mind a Thule Atlantic 200...

1. The box was £230 and the rack itself was £130. These are substantial discounts from RRP and I can put you in touch with a very helpful supplier on the web if you like...

2. I thought long and hard about where is was going to go, but there was an answer! I have suspended a large shelf (cut from 8x4" ply) from the standard height garage roof. I can still drive the MINI (with roof bars) underneath it with about 4 inches to spare ( ) and the box fits up there a treat. I'll see if I can sort a photo out for you....

Tigger.

We used Thule box and Mont blanc bars to move house in our Mini.

Not used it on teh new one yet - a bit paranoid about the sun roof interfering - will have to check it out.

Perfect on the MINI though!

The Thule roof box did a great job for us and it's still pristine but now that the MINI is no more, it has to find a new home....

Sensible offers please from anyone able to meet up around the westcountry...

Tigger.

The roof rack and the MINI were both sold during the summer, but the roof box is still for sale
