Proud MCS owner!

Woooooo!!! Pictures will be incoming soon.

One main gripe. The flag sticker on the roof needs to come off because it looks grubby. Any advice how to take it off and make it all shinyyyyyy?

The car is just so comfortable. I was a grinning manic all the way home going "poweeeeeeeeerrrrrr!" :-P

Congratulations on the new MINI

To remove the sticker, simply heat it up and peel it off! Use either a hot air paint stripper (on its LOWEST setting), or a hair dryer if you must and heat up one small section at a time and peel it off. The heat will not do the roof any damage ;a black roof will get a lot hotter in direct sunshine in August! Just keep your fingers away from the hot air blast!

Use petrol (with care!) to clear away any traces of glue residue. Then polish that roof!

Tigger.

Goes without saying that the heat source and the petrol must be well out of each others way ........... White spirit is a lot safer and just as effective.

Also - use the hair drier, not the paint stripper The paint stripper can get the surface hot enough to, well, how can I put this ............... strip the paint ...........

You might be better off asking the local dealership to remove it for you. Probably £50 for the job, but no worries

Congrats on the new motor.

No, it doesn't work that way. I've used a hot air paint stipper ever since a professional sign writer showed me how to do it when I had to remove vinyl sign writing from some vans back in 1987. I have never damaged any paint then or at any other time over the last 20 years. The reason that it doesn't is because the metal panel is a much better heat conductor than the paint-on-wood that a stripper is normally used on and, as I said originally, the panel never gets close to the extremely high temparatures it would do on a summer's day in direct sun.

By all means use a hair drier if you feel more comfortable, it will just take a lot longer.....

Well you live and learn

Would still recommend a non-expert use a 2000 Watt hair drier rather than a paint stripper for safety sake.

You're probably right there wiggis, it's a bit of a knack! The biggest problem is actually stopping yourself from accidentally cooking a finger or two!!

Tigger.
