i have just fiited my private plate going phone insurance now and fit replacement tax disc, my question is do i have to inform mini for the breakdown cover and TLC or do they go off the VIN number

You should always notify manufacturer of such changes, They should in theory be able to from vin number, but breakdown co may not be so forthcoming especially at 11.30 pm in mid december. Beter to be safe than sorry.

i put my private plate on our freelander which came with mazda assist from the garage we bought it from, when i phoned them up to change the reg over they said they work off a central data base and it had already been updated!!

As soon as I received by breakdown card for my current MINI I wrote straight back to inform them of the private plate and ask for a new card. Never heard a dicky bird from them

if you have the car on finance they charge as well £30 i think, black horse did with me anyway
