Reverse light and brake light

Just cleaned my car and my m8 realised that my reverse light is out. Ive checked it and its filled with water. Having seen this I checked my brake light and this looks like it could be going down the same tracks. Anyone had the same prblem and know how to prevent it in anyway? cheers
