Obscuring windscreen with stickers

I've been thinking of putting a MINI2 sticker on my windscreen. Thought I'd heard somewhere that this is frowned upon - even illegal or leading to an MOT failure, as the only thing you're supposed to have stuck on the screen is a tax disc.

But what if it was out of my line of vision, such as t'other side of the rear view mirror - would that be OK?

Cheers

In fact, since starting this thread I'm getting a feeling of Deja Vu and that I might have asked this question before, or have at least read about it here (apologies if so).

Seem to recall someone saying that he had to remove a parking pass from his screen or something otherwise he'd get a fail on his MOT?

Technically you can't have anything obscuring the windscreen area covered by your wipers when then wash (does that make sense?!) However, on the mini this is a bit daft as most of the windscreen is covered so even tax disc is illegal. Its your choice whether to put it on but it would fail MOT if in the way and if coppers or VOSA saw you they would bust you!

I've just stuck a sticker on my windscreen. Its the one you peel off the MOT certificate and stick it on your window so you know when the next one is due. I'd like to see them fail me for that next year

I've got loads of run stickers down the sides of my windscreen, but probably not in the area covered by the wipers

Anyone remember all the "Wayne and Tracy" type green sun-strip stickers that were all the rage in the 80s?

Don't see many of them now (ermm, all MOT failures and warned off perhaps)

Best one I saw (and you have to be familiar with a certain Preston/Lancashire terminology to get the pun) was in the Deepdale area of Preston, circa 1982.

It featured a full width green strip. Added to it In white letters on the driver's side was "ME", in the middle it read "NR" and on the passenger side it read "PEG" (ME NR PEG get it !)

For the vast majority of people who don't live within a 15 mile radius of Preston, 'Peg' is the local term (perhaps falling into disuse now) for one's female partner. Usually applied to 'the wife', but equally valid for a steady girlfriend.

For example - " I took our Peg out for a reet good slap up meal t'other neet"

A really deep Prestonian would perhaps refine this to "... R Peg..." and hence "Me N R Peg" (myself and my wife). Or perhaps "Me N R Peg went for a reet good slap up meal t'other neet, I took 'er to that new chippy on Fishergate like"
