| MINI2 Newbie | Gas station database for UK SatNav Has it been done before, would it be worth doing? A database that can be added to the UK SatNav DVD, similar to the speed camera database, that contains all known gas stations that have 99 octane petrol as POIs. Shell V-Power, Tesco 99, BP Ultima, Texaco something - it can be a right pain to find high octane fuel in some areas. I could imagine the companies might cooperate by providing a current list of gas stations that provide high octane fuel. What do you think? |

Offline | Some of the definitions in the sat nav databases are a little ropey Was north of inverness earlier in the year, running on fumes, loaded in the nearest petrol station, closed at the weekend, next petrol station, closed a year ago, next petrol station, closed in about 1903, next petrol station, was just a garage, next petrol station, was a bucket on the side of the road. Took me 40 miles to find a petrol station - I was coasting downhill, going about 30 on the straight just to make it. Maybe should clear the dross off ![]() |

![]() MINI2 Master | Why not just go to the local information option and search for petrol stations on your location under say 10 miles, will show all the local petrol stations i.e Shell BP etc, pretty sure they have Optimax (old school) and Ultimate at them, well 90% of them will.![]() |

Offline | When using Tom Tom in mainland Europe, it seems that all the petrol stations subscribe. This means you can be 99% sure to set your sat-nav to the nearest brand of fuel you want! ![]() Yet in the UK it just gives you the name of the petrol station but not the brand of fuel it sells! ![]() |

Offline | My Garmin Nuvi has the brand of petrol station, as well as phone numbers (and of course bluetooth if your on the move), so that's the closest I can think that there is, suppose it's a bit long-winded to call them and find out what they sell! I find most Shell garages sell V-Power, whereas not all BPs sell Ultimate, nor Tescos sell 99 Ron, so I guess it would be useful to know who does what. |

| I miss my MINI | Someone would need to compile the stations with locations in a spreadsheet and then you could use Pimp My Nav to add the new POI into the map disk. There is a little bit of room left on the disk. Pimp-My-Nav Home Global Moderator ![]() |
