Angry Car Accident

Took my 3 week old mini cherished mini cooper s to rydale mini sutton colfield for its insection 1 serivice. All was well until the service manager came up to and asked to speak to me went in to the office and he advised me that one of the sales team reversed in to my car was not best pleased at all. I went and looked at the car and was expecting a small dent, the passenger door and gone in completly smashing the glass and damaged the sill and rear quarter panel denting the frame as well.

They have said it will go to the bmw workshop and take up to two weeks to be fixed.

Im not happy at all

That is just awful... I hope they compensate you well for this... Have they discussed it with you? He must have been reversing fast to do that sort of damage... Hope it all gets sorted...

Might be tempted to call mini and ask if this is the standard of their dealers etc etc

...that is if they are not very very nice to you...

Thats fair enough and I am sure it was an accident and not done on purpose. However 3 week old Mini, major inconvenience and now when fixed you are now driving a car you know has been in an accident and not the car you originally bought at no fault of your own, which could affect you if and when you come to sell it. I personally would demand a replacement car to the same spec, just my opinion.

Cheers

It may also be the case that after repair the car is worth less than it would have been had it never suffered the damage, which sounds quite serious.

As a matter of law, the dealer is not only responsible for the repair but is also liable for any loss of second-hand value as a result of the car having been damaged. I do not know whether this particular damage would have any effect on the second-hand value after repair, but it might be worth trying to find out.

Yeah probably zero, depends on the extent of the damage and how good you are at arguing your case. Nothing ventured , nothing gained

Believe you me I'm one of the best negotiators when it comes to cutting a deal, but I'm afraid if they've offered to put the damage right, theirs very little anyone can do.

It's a bum I know but the SYSTEM that is makes the comman man jump through hoops for example On Delivery on my Brand new Cooper S, I took it through a car wash 2 weeks later and it scratched the backside end, trying to get copensation for the damage to be repaired is a nightmare several letters later and I'm still waiting 1 month later.

You simply must demand some objects of desire for your pride and joy. Yeah it's not recorded but eveytime I have been about to buy a 2nd hand MINI, I always ring up Customer Service to get a service history (non HPI) and they will normally tell you when the car was in for scheduled services and what was done to it. So you can see where this is going a prudent buyer could find out all this and thus affect your resale value.

What are they doing inside the BMW service park - racing the things?.

Funnily enough when I've taken to mine to BMW Battersea, (which is always overburden with cars) I have alwatys gone away thinking "should'nt have left it in that spot".
At least its in the best place for a proper repair thou.

Personaly, i would not like to be driving a car i no has been in an accident after 3 weeks and i would try for a replacement..... although i doubt that will happen.

As far as im aware if you no the car has been in an accident its the owners responsibilty to tell the next owner.

Rams a car wash how could you.....
