Offline | Mini Cooper S Vs IS 300 Need some help here guys n gals... I have to sell one of the cars because the missus is getting a new car. I bought the IS in 03 and modded it to the level my wife would allow but did loads of stuff she has never seen nor would, we shared it up until we bought the cooper s. Being that the IS in auto and copper s is manual I tended to prefer driving the S whenever possible unless the wifey wanted to be driven somewhere (she hates driving in traffic here). Now the deal is I GET TO USE THE FUNDS FROM THE SOLD CAR TO MOD THE ONE I KEEP!!!!! I almost jizzed my pants...now youre probably thinking she's got me under the thumb but its totally not like that, we each play our part in matrimonial bliss but we just cant keep 3 cars, its crazy and dont have the space for it. My dream is for the ultimate streetable car w/ the best performance mods Please give me some help in my decision, specs for both cars are listed below: IS300 Sports Design (03) Auto box Toms rear tower bar Toms chassis struts (front/rear) TRD chassis brace (front/rear) TRD yellow sways TRD yellow adjustable suspension (gas dampers) Full body kit that came w/ SD pkg Mini Cooper S (02) 6 Speed 17'' BBS wheels 215/40 Nology wires and plugs Thanks for your help, anyone else been in this dilema or something similar...HELP!!! |

Offline | Well...as you've posted on a MINI forum, I think the resounding answer from most people would be to keep the S!! However I do like the IS300.....always loved the IS200 .... but modded up you're kinda pushing chav territory - only my opinion...but I say keep the S and give it POWER TO THE MAX!!!! ![]() ![]() ALTHOUGH SHE NEEDS A BIT OF GUIDANCE, LESLEY WILL BE MY BIATCH FOR NOW...! ![]() ![]() |

| . | Modding the IS300 will never place it in the same league as a chav's car... As these ![]() ![]() Could NEVER be this. ![]() as with this you not only get Power but comfort too, As long as you keep the mods inline with a JDM style theme, you'll be fine.. Keep the IS and sell the MINI.. EMPTY SPACE NEEDS FILLING.... but it has to be something that wont get me banned ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Like I said - my opinion only. Still think ANY MINI is far better looking than the IS you posted there, Jon. ![]() ALTHOUGH SHE NEEDS A BIT OF GUIDANCE, LESLEY WILL BE MY BIATCH FOR NOW...! ![]() ![]() |

Offline | The most chav thing on my S is the bonnet stripes and electric blue fogs as its lecky blue MCS, on the IS its got everything and I will always get more power out of the straight 6, 3 litre. IMO it will be cheaper to mod the S but will never get the wow factor and head jerks of the IS...can you see my dilema now. Ideally, I could sell both and get something that does both straight out the box but what I got now is a known quantity and wont wouldnt have much left if I bought new |

| . | but remember your speaking from a "I love mini and only mini point of view" Its the wrong sort of question to ask on a MINI ONLY forum really as most folk will say MINI as they have one and love it. The Lexus is a great machine in its own rights, like you say the MINI could never be as good tunned or even as reliable as a tunned IS300 dosent matter how much people love the MINI its just fact. Remember you could always pick up a cheap MINI in the future if you wanted to go back, as prices will be low.. EMPTY SPACE NEEDS FILLING.... but it has to be something that wont get me banned ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Yes I am - which is why I am on this forum.....you, quite possibly, are coming from a different perspective...but like I said also...it's only one person's opinion! ![]() ALTHOUGH SHE NEEDS A BIT OF GUIDANCE, LESLEY WILL BE MY BIATCH FOR NOW...! ![]() ![]() |

Offline | I'll say what I said on the IS forum I use, I posted in duplicate..I just wanted to hear peoples opinions. I am leaning towards the lexus for all the reasons mentioned above I just dont want to give up the MCS. I hope Ive not started a ridiculous debate but the decision means a lot to me. Thanks peoples! |

Offline | The Lexus will be very reliable and can be tuned...dont think there that much to look at...no matter what you do to them just my personal opinion. The Lexus will also be more comfortable and spacious, I think the Mini will put more of a smile on your face when tuned, Id be tempted to keep the Mini but Id also think about selling them both and getting something completely differnt ![]() ![]() |

| M5 Extraordinare! | Keep the MINI. Much more unique. the old IS is quite boring to me. Saw nothing special in it. I have the 2IS and I'm bored of it already... it has almost all the power I want but lacks character unlike the MINI... after 3 years with the MINI I was still not bored of it... but made a dumb move and sold it because resale value was good at the time... ![]() |

Offline | Thanks for the replies...I'd love a 2nd hand evo 9 but would have to sell both cars and might not scrape enough from the sale...will have to start looking around and keep an open mind. The gtt conversion sounds cool and would be right up my street, on the other hand how much fun could I get of the 2JZ powerplant...hmmm Will keep you posted, esp if its mini orientated Cheers! |
