towing the mini cooper

I would like to use my new mini cooper s as a tow vehicle behind our new motor home. What would be the best and safest way to do this? Does anyone have a recommendation?

Hi Patti,

The fuzzy hubby and I are currently working on a FAQ for using a MINI as a towd (dinghy).

Short answer is that you can flat tow with no modifications if you have a manual transmission but it will void your warrenty. You may flat tow an automatic transmission with modifications costing around $1000, available from Blue Ox. Or you may tow either with a tow dolly and keep your warrenty.

Here's some pictures of various towing setups:

We got various answers when asking dealers and the national website "contact us" about how to tow a Mini behind our motor home. We are in the process of buying a manual transmission Mini S Convertible. They either say to use a dolly (front wheels up) or a trailer (4 wheels up). I'm thinking the dolly makes most sense, keeping wear and tear off the front end. Does anyone know of specific issues doing this? Thanks, -- Dave

You finish that FAQ? I'm looking to tow mine too, the instructions say to lock the steering but the wheel doesn't lock.
