Offline | mini one exhaust My daughters exhaust is going on her mini one. Do you think she should go to bmw to replace it or kwik fit? My husband thinks that kwik fit exhausts would not last long and that a proper manufactured part would. She does intend to keep her mini, so what do you mini experts think? Also the main part is how much would bmw charge for an exhaust replacement? Mini obsessed |

Offline | Have you thought about an aftermarket exhaust like the Milltek system. My 2002 Cooper needed a new exhaust recently and thats what I opted for. Not sure how much a genuine BMW item would cost but doubt you would get it cheaper than the Milltek, and if you thinking of keeping the MINI long term it should last a lifetime being made of Stainless Steel (plus lifetime warranty). Also very easy to live with sound wise. Not much above standard note when driving normally and a nice crisp note when accelerating over 4000rpm. Being as you live in west midlands are you not too far from Lohen? Would recommend them any day. |

Offline | Phone your local MINI parts dept. and get a price for the exhaust, then ask for labour charge for fitting + vat. Then phone Kwik-fit for the same. The genuine BMW part will almost certainly last longer & fit better if you are keeping the car long term. So in the end its how much your willing to pay for that extra quality? A performance stainless exhaust as suggested is a good option but check it does not effect your daughters insurance premium as a modification. |

| MINI2 Master | I'm going to go with the original part when I replace my back box later in the year. My dealer quoted just under £400 (about £300 of which was the part), which is expensive. What I have found is that the outer shell of my original exhaust has corroded. I expect a replacement part to be no better, but my car will have done 85000 miles when I replace it and if the car lasts another 85000 then I'll be very happy. I think I read on here that Kwik Fit don't have an exhaust that will fit the Mini. Perhaps that's changed. If you do get an original part fitted, make sure the brackets are replaced (parts costs around £27 as I recall) as this rusts very quickly. Oli Last edited by oldnell : Nov 6th, 2007 at 09:14 AM. Offline | BMW are expensive and not stainless steel. I'd advise for the cost getting something like a milltek...not horrid and chavy, looks fairly small. |

Offline | Thanks everyone, would like a milltek or lohen but dont think you can get these done anywhere near Birmingham, if anyone knew would appreciate it, kwik fit dont seem to know what to do about it he keeps phoning round to try to get one so it looks like she wont have much choice but to go to Sytner, wont give in yet though! Offline | Buy the Milltek from Lohen (or any other outlet that sells them) get it deliverd to you and then take the car + exhuast to a local garage. I'm sure they could fit it for you? Trust me, you wont regret getting something like a Milltek, as others have said its not an intrusive noise, but a much nicer one than the standard system. Plus it will last alot longer being stainless steel. I think MiniMatt - Mini Matt - BMW Mini - BMW Mini Modifications - BMW Mini Parts and Spares - BMW Mini Repairs are based in the midlands and might be able to do the job. Dont quote me on that though! James. |

Offline | Hi mini5lover, You could also try your local Powerflow exhaust dealer. Powerflow Exhausts They manufacture custom made stainless steel full or part exhausts. The dealers local to me have been very helpful and surprisingly good value. |

Offline | Postal order any stailess exhaust...the milly is one of the better ones though. Then have any garage fit it. On the MINI its a simple 2-4bolts off and the same back on for the new system. Any local garage can do it. |

Offline | Hi mini5lover, not sure where in the West Midlands you live but Lohen are just up the M6 (at junction 14 I think). Have a look at their website for lots of info. and details on their exhausts. Welcome To Lohen.co.uk - New Mini Tuning and Performance Specialists Very helpful guys if you have any questions. I'm not on the payroll , just always had great service from them.Added some pictures to show you what you get with Milltek. Don't be panicked into thinking it's radically modifying the car, just let the insurance know. You won't be disappointed . |

Offline | Have to agree, the after market options are far better than the OEM,you'll get a stainles steel exhaust for the price ( or less ) than the ordinary metal one from BMW. If your selling the car it will also add value as the purchaser knows they arent goin to have to replace it in a very long time |

Offline | We are off tomorrow morning and will post pictures when we get back. It is costing around £410 alltogether with fitting, but our local Plume wanted £180 for just the back box and that was a cheap metal! Think BMW told her around £400 too so would be mad to pay that. Cant wait to hear it and it should improve performance too! Mini obsessed |
