Talking WIPAC wiring Kit? SPOT LIGHT HELP!!!

Hey All,

I have just bought a set of spotlights, which i believe are the WIPAC version (not actually sure what WIPAC means - anybody help?)

I have the brackets and the lights, but obviously need a wiring kit.

Just wondering if it was easier to buy a wiring kit for these lamps (If so where from and price) or whether or not it would be easier to buy the wires, relays, fuses etc...

If it was easier to buy the bits individually could somebody make me a list of what was needed (as you can tell I'm completey useless and would most probably buy all the wrong things.)

Lastly I am looking to wire the spot-lights up, so that the they come on with the full beams, is this possible? If so does anybody have an IDIOTS guide (maybe with step by step pictures to help me through?!)

Thanks (and sorry for being such as div!!)

WIPAC is the manufacturer.

It would be much quicker and easier for you to buy a wiring kit, I would get in touch with some of the WIPAC spotlight kit sellers on eBay and see if they will provide the harness on its own

Found this diagram if you fancy a go yourself... http://www.mini2.com/galleries/data/...ing_lights.jpg

Legally your spots are allowed to come on with the full beams ONLY, so that's definitely possible, in fact it's the only way to wire them up legally.

My reply not good enough?

To do it yourself you will need:

An automotive relay, 30A or greater
Suitable spades or a holder to connect to the relay
Several metres of automotive cable rated at 15A or higher (the bigger diameter the better because of reduced voltage drop) ideally in black and red.
Fuse holder
15A fuse
Scotchlock cable tap connector to pick up main beam feed from headlamp
Ring terminal to connect to battery
Ground terminal to connect to car body
Suitable spades/terminals to connect to your spot lights

Basically every item as shown on the diagram I linked to earlier...

Legend, thanks.

Thought that it may have been easier to buy all the products seperately (and cheaper - tight bugger), however like you said before a kit would be easier. Can i use any kit (maybe for Ring lights) or does it have to be for WIPAC ones?

Any body got any pictures of fitting the lights - step buy step diagram, ie- cutting bits off, screwing where etc...

Thanks for your help so far Martin

Hey Martin,

I have now fitted the spots - so thanks for your help in that bit.

However now is the tricky part of the wiring.
Just a quick question - do you know which of the 2 wires which come out of the back of each WIPAC light do i need to wire? Or if its both, where do i wire both of them up to?
The handy diagram above is a bit vague when it comes to the spot light wiring?!

Thanks matey
