Offline | My dads van doesn't show up but he's hust transfered his old private plate to it so I guess that the insurance companies are a bit slow to update their system. |

Offline | I must admit I was expecting the screaming lady or something , however as stated, it's for real & quite useful, with the POLICE & other GOVERNMENT agencies using ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition)? systems more & more often, which uses the MID (Motor Insurance Database).A friend of mine was stopped in a £14,000 car at a local supermarket car-park which the Police & other Government agencies (DVLA, IMMIGRATION, BENEFITS agencies) take over from time to time and use the ANPR system which flags up the uninsured, untaxed & wanted vehicles which are then pulled over and basically go through checks off all of them. Basically my friend, who was insured, was stopped, went through all of the the checks to see if he was an illegal immigrant, whether he was working & claiming benefits & all the vehicle checks, to be told the car wasn't insured and that it was to be impounded at his cost ££££ once they had got rid of the other vehicles waiting in line, the usual bangers. After getting no where trying to persuade them to let him carry on his journey and produce his documents later, they let him go home and get his insurance document as he only lived around the corner and he had some identification on him. He got back just in time to stop them loading the car on to the transporter and save the recovery costs ££££. After a heated conversation with his Insurance company he was told someone had put the wrong details down so he hadn't been covered properly for the last 10 months on that car. So I would definitely check that you are OK (Covered & on the MID) as it could be quite costly in time ££££ and frustration. Plus the local paper was also there ready with the cameras ![]() ![]() .![]() ![]() ![]() Destined to live life £5 behind. Disclaimer ![]() |

Offline | You'll probably be OK (Insured), it'll most likely be a delay or incorrect / no info on the MID (Motor Insurance Database). But It's still worth checking with your insurance. Before people comment or respond to my comments about ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) and MID please search the Forums as it has been mentioned & talked about before. With me being a NEWBIE on responding, I'm not sure how to link / direct you to the previous comments in other threads / posts about these subjects, these subjects can open up a huge can of worms as they are a growing in use and in the ways they are being used. So these subjects are best being talked about in the right place, put there by someone who knows where to put them. Nothing like jumping in at the deep end. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it eventually. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Destined to live life £5 behind. Disclaimer ![]() |
