Offline | Hi all, I used to own a Cooper S and i sold it a few months ago for something more sensible to cut down costs/insurance/tax etc. and get something a bit more practical so i purchased a Golf. Now the Golf is fine for what it does, costs less on fuel/insurance/tax has a nice warranty, is comfy for longer journeys and can hols 5 people easily and has a boot BUT it is not a MINI and i really miss my old one. I have been pondering for a while and i want to buy another MINI. I miss it too much and just love them so i have decided on that. However saying that i am confused on which MINI to get. I loved my S when i had it, the power and the whine of the supercharger was great but ever since the Park Lane models have been out i have had a soft spot for them. So i don't know whether to go for the power of the S or the more luxurious Park Lane. The PL will be newer by a year or possibly 2 with less mileage and will save on some costs but i just loved driving the S. I took both out for test drive and i enjoyed the drive of the S more but the PL is so nice to look at and sit in. So MINI2 what do i do? Go for the S and stop worrying about the extra costs to get that grin on my face or be in between by getting a MINI again but a more sensible version to save on some £££. |

Offline | Oh, that is a difficult choice ![]() Both are nice MINIs. Infact, both are very nice MINIs. I've owned both a Cooper and a Cooper S and loved them both. Hmmm.... What would I do? Well, the RFL is neither here nor there; the difference between £150 (PL) and £205 (S) in going to make no significant difference at all (in comparison with the overall costs). Based on my own experience, the Cooper averaged 37.5 mpg and the S was 5mpg less. It all depends on how much mileage you do and how much you can justify spending. Although I loved the Cooper, I think if I went back to a Cooper I'd soon find the lack of torque hugely frustrating and I'd miss all of the nice noises. Although the Park Lane looks nice, so does an S when it's fitted out in a nice colour and full leather. I've even heard it said that the conventional leather seats (not the English Leather) are more comfortable anyway... So, if you can afford to run the S go for it. But, if you can't or, if it means you will be worried about the costs every time you use it, get the PL. Whatever you do, ditch the Golf! ![]() Tigger. ![]() Unintimated and I'm back!! ![]() For sunshine, fun and Cornish Pasties: New MINI Kernow Cornish Oggy Run 2009! |

![]() Obsessive Car Cleaner OCC | I completly agree with everyone and you in saying get an S, if you dont you maybe dissapointed when you get a PL, Recently i had a 1 series as a courtesy car and i found it easy to drive and comfortable, i then thought about the costs of this car on fuel etc etc and how much more sensible it would be until i got my S back, My thoughts then were what the h*ll was i thinking. I would really miss my S way to much to justify anything sensible. Scott |

Offline | Heh yea you are all correct. I guess in a way i just want to convince myself by getting other peoples views to go along with mine. I know i am probably trying to be too sensibe (hence the golf) and especially at 22 but i can't help but like to save my money ![]() I would be annoyed though if i got the PL and thought to myself 'i wish i got an S'. Just thinking that for all the nice interior from the PL and it being quite a bit newer for the same price as an S makes it a bit tempting. |

Offline | But Laura did get lucky, there being only one in the country and I think the chances of parting her with that one are slightly less than Zero! Tigger. ![]() Unintimated and I'm back!! ![]() For sunshine, fun and Cornish Pasties: New MINI Kernow Cornish Oggy Run 2009! |

Offline | Have you looked at this? http://www.mini2.com/forum/mini-coop...e-s-works.html It seems to suggest that there are a few RHD drive cars in the UK. Only a handfull though from what I can understand. However it is quite confusing, as MINI seem to say they only sold 1, yet members of this site have spotted a RHD JCW PL Cooper s. ![]() Hmmmm |
