Offline | Fuel Question Hi, Hope this isn't a really stupid question but as a newbie i can't see the answer anywhere else on the forums ... What octane fuel should you run an MCS on? Should i be using Shell Optimax/other Super Unleaded or will regular Unleaded cut it? Cheers Bob. |

Offline | A standard MCS will run fine on regular 95 octane unleaded. However, a lot of pople choose to run them on 97 to 99 octane unleaded and some are convinced it makes a difference. If the standard engine is tuned to anything other than JCW spec, most aftermarket tuners recommend (or insist) on higher octane fuel. GT Tuning certainly insist. Tigger. PS: I compromise and run mine on Sainsbury's 97 octane super unleaded. Offline | No problem. BMW specify that all of their production cars are designed to run on 95 octane unleaded. It doesn't stop a lot of us running something of a higher octane number; it certainly doesn't do any harm, but then neither does running 95 octane ![]() May '08: Due to certain recent events on this site, I no longer wish to continue posting on Mini2.
