Are you a simpleton, hottie or flashy?

I'm intrigued by the different views about speccing and wonder, if cost were unimportant, if you'd prefer your next MINI to be:
  1. As plain as possible, with all colour-contrast detailing omitted anywhere the configurator allows - because simplicity is an attribute?
  2. Make full use of the configurator's appearance options?
  3. Modified for enhanced road performance and with appropriately-lowered suspension, wheels and spoilers but no graphics - to keep a discrete, "Q-car" effect?
  4. Modified as 3 but with aftermarket Viper or other stripes, roof decals, etc, - to combine performance with a dramatic look?
  5. Fully modded for trackday use - because performance is the main thing?
  6. With no performance mods but a custom sound system, stripes, decals, aftermarket wheels, etc - because the look's important?

Personally I like the Q-car effect, not that it is possible with a MINI!

I prefer to look unique but not flashy. Subtle might be the word.

I don't wanna admit it but...4! It's wat Minis were made for, bright garish colours and stripes!!
But if costs were unimportant and fuel was free for a year, 5!!

A very interesting batch of early replies - I'd have done this as a poll if I could work out how!

I'm a simpleton. But will nobody admit to 2 or 6 despite all the threads about that style?

I'm a #3 (stealthy road performer), leaning slightly towards #5 (track day weapon)... but I need a small shot of #6 for good measure (gotta at least have the Hi-fi and iPod hookup - I like my music, too!).

I'll admit to #2...

Going to test drive a yellow '07 S with black roof & stripes and 17" crown wheels tomorrow. The interior has chrome line, black headliner, yellow color line, and piano black. If I take it, I'll want them to add chrome line exterior (can the dealer do that?) and chrome bonnet scoop - the car would look just like my avatar.

I've never been referred to as hottie or flashy even when I have money whats the other simpleton that rings a bell, I've been called that numerous times .
  • Early days: Look-alikes, for Insurance purposes.
  • Mid 20s: Stealth, 5dr Fiesta pop plus (wheel trims), full turbo engine, running gear (uprated) etc... etc... (embarrassed a few Boy-racers & Old-man racers ).
  • 30s: Van.
  • Mid 30s: mid-life crisis, fancy a Transit all the extras alloys, viper stripes, metallic paint etc... etc... (They do do them and they look ).
  • Other ½: MINI ONE fully kitted up loads of extras bog-standard engine & running gear, Insurance purposes.

MINIs I make them look nice not OTT, but each MINI depends on colour wether it gets stripes, chequered, colour coded, chromed etc... etc... But no engine mods or lowered suspensions as I leave that to the new owners.

So I guess it's a #6 on the MINI front and #1,#2,#3,#4 & #6 of the above throughout my life, never been into #5 myself, maybe as I get a little older .

Mine's the one on the left.
Destined to live life £5 behind. Disclaimer Any advice given is my opinion only, if you decide to act on any advice / info I've given, it's at your own risk!

If money no object then subtle mods with the worlds best ( lightest and best looking in a
subtle way ) alloys wheels. Topped off with a mega but stealth sound install. So I
suppose choice 6 is the closest just not over the top. I think you should also allow us
6'ers to include a sportier sounding exhaust without the other performance mods.

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs
