Auto Express are saying the MINI SAV will be built on the same platform as the new BMW 1-Series SUV, so I guess they will both be coming off the production line in Austria?

Any timeframe?

I hope it's not the same design team as the BMW X3. That's one of the most fugly cars BMW have ever produced!

Hopefully its a true off-roader. When I say true off-roader, I mean full time 4 wheel drive, locking diffs, low range box etc. At the very least, it would have to have Freelander 2 trickery with ATR. If its any of the above, Im having one

Shoot!!

4 doors (i.e. 2 on each side) would be nice!

So a re-badged new X1 then, rather than a re-badged x3? not for me, but somebody will buy it.

deceptive popups

Intrigued by the article on the new SAV concept but super-irritated by all the dingbat ad popups, with nothing at all to give more Mini details. I mean, really, why would I want to skip from reading this article to buying a Hyundai?

What I really want is for Mini to bring the black back. Pops

Another mention of the name Monte in Auto Express (yes I know ) They were scooping the X1 and said "it will platform share with the Monte" I know what we think of AA but they are dead set on the name Monte.

Crossman seems to be the new name in the frame! I think I prefer Monte or Colorado. Moke would have been prefered.

I wish it had been the Moke. Crossman just seems to much like the failed Crosslander.

George W Bush will probably come down under looking for the factory to buy one in his retirement.

How about the MINI "Highlander"? Or is that too much like the LandRover "Freelander"?

But surely not "Crossman"? That's just a bit too contrived.....IMHO

I saw a thing on the news a few days ago about a small Land Rover concept car. Some of the design cues looked decidely MINIesque. I think there will be some interesting new small cars coming our over the next few years.
