factory odometer settings

hi
does MINI change the settings if you order a cooper with standard 15's or pay more for 17's.....do they leave the settings for the odometer alone?

what I'm wanting to know is, should I, when upgrading to 17's - try get the closet overall diameter to match my 175/65 R15's (which would be 215/40's) or should I try and get as close to the factoy supplied 205/45?

Settings stay the same, the overall diameter difference is very minmal as the Tyre Wall is lower profile on the 17 inch than the 15 inch.

Well put it this way, if you ordered some 17 inch or 18 inch upgrades from the dealership, they would put them straight on without any change to the ECU odometer settings, so I presume this would be the same at the factory too.

The odometer is measured off the rolling diameter of the wheel, and there is a tolerance allowed of around 20mm either side of the "perfect measurement, which, for the MINI, must be somewhere around 620mm. Use this nifty calculator to see what I mean...
