United-Kingdom Can you retro fit a steering wheel?

As the title says really. My MCS has almost every extra except a multi function wheel and I really fancy having one fitted if poss.

Has anyone had this done, is any idea of what is involved or the costs?

Cheers

Matt

depends on what wheel you have now.

It can all be done but depending on your current wheel it may require a new air bag and thats where it starts getting expensive.

Do a search for other threads and you will find all the retro fit info you need.

A MINI dealer can retro-fit either the 2-spoke or 3-spoke MFSW, so there's no need to change the airbag.

I wouldn't say most. You'd be surprised how many people prefer the 2-spoke MFSW to the 3-spoke.

But anyway, that's not the point of this thread.

We have no idea which steering wheel Matt has, so there's no point assuming anything.

United-Kingdom

Currently have a two spoke wheel with just the horn buttons on each spoke. Not bothered about the 3 spoke wheel just want the multi function ability.

The last time I had one done was just over a year ago, and the bill came to around £500 I think.

Then you obviously need the wheel and the wiring. As I said have a search as others have done it and posted how they fitted it.

Yeah you can but to retro fit the mfsw is gonna cost you took this from the jcw stering wheel thread in the group buy section Hi
The JCW steering wheel and new style airbag would be £410 inc vat and discount
the m/f and cruise control kit would be £155.00 inc vat and discount but the kit would take around six hours to fit,it is a very envolved job this would bring the total cost for the wheel and
m/f kit to £1001.00
Cheers
Chris

its the mfsw conversion that costs i would go down the jcw steering wheel and air bag route get a new steering wheel and an air bag off ebay my air bag cost me £85 off ebay think they retail for £200+ at the dealers feels like a new car the jcw wheel is mint, but i had the 2002 2 spoke before no comparison

I hve had a good look through the historic threads but still can't find a definitive answer. It seems that as I have sat nav this retro fit may not be possible but I can't locate conclusive evidence.
