DIY £870 for front and rear aero bumber??

Hey all,

Does £870 for front and rear aero bumpers sound fair/accurate?

I've got a 2005 cooper and I want to finish my aero kit off (I've already got the side skirts and spoiler). So went to my local MINI garage (elvet mini) and they reckon £701 for the parts including painting and then a further £170 for fitting..................

Is this around the right price or am I being ripped off? It cost me £450 for the side skirts fitted and painted.

I'd love to know who else has had an aerokit retrofitted and to hear thoughts and experiences..

Go on... do me proud!!!

Erm is it a Cooper / s factory kit? because if it is theyre 900 - 995 from mini anyway painted. And fitting wont be that hard, so if it is the factory kit then to be honest your probably better off buying a brand new kit or even On MiniSport.com they are about 600.... Hope this helps

I would have a go at fitting the kit yourself. Not that hard a job to do.

The last complete aero-kit (bumpers, sills, grills, brackets & stickers) that I got was approx £600 from the main dealer in primer, It cost me approx £300 to get painted but I did have all the arches, petrol cap surround, spoiler & some other bits & pieces done as-well .

A painter should charge you around £100 each bumper, you may get it done less than that, they may quote you more, and it will all depend on whether you want them to fit them (I fit all mine myself ).

Always try and see something the painter has done before to see how good he / she is , the best aren't always the dearest and vice-versa .

The main dealer ones are normally quite a good colour match but they won't colour code them, they always put the black on them (it depends on how you have your MINI) .

I like the aero-kits and I think that they are well worth it but that's my preference, you will get others that dis-agree .

Mine's the one on the left.

That's a great deal. If it's the real deal, I'd snap it up quickly!

I still want to get the aero kit. I'm just waiting for a great deal like that to crop up...

£870 for the front and rear bumpers on their own sounds ok.

I got a full aero kit, factory painted and including the additional aero spoiler for £1030 fitted, which from a main dealer was a good buy.

Oh, and definatley get the kit, it will look fantastic, you didn't mention the aero grille though, so unless you already have that too, then I would also order one to complete the look.

Regards,

James.
