Hi everyone.
Someone has tried to force open my daughters mini one petrol cap with a screwdriver and has succeeded in breaking off one of the plastic lugs inside.
The cover does go over the plastic inner but does not feel safe and comes off easily.
Does anyone know where (apart from dealer) she could get a new one that wont cost the earth?
She has a liquid yellow mini 1 2002 reg.
Have you actually tried your dealer's parts department? A lot of people imagine that they'll be really expensive for everything, but often they're not. Only sometimes.
I have a complete filler cap unit sat in my shed since upgrading to S cap, the flap is pure silver but if its any use to you to get sprayed or butcher for parts then your welcome to it.
"oldnell" has a fair point sometimes parts are not as expensive as you may think from the main dealer, I have often seen used parts for sale for as much as you can get a brand new one from the main dealer , plus it depends on what is broken and it depends on whether the main dealer sells it in parts or a complete unit .
It may be worth taking Buz999 up on his offer as the painted part just twists off from the main hinge .
Or upgrade to a S filler cap but it can get expensive if you order it painted and if someone has already prised your old one off they may be very tempted by a new shiny chrome one .

Thank you everyone. The outer yellow disc is fine apart from the bit that has been scratched with the screwdriver which we could cover over. Its just one of the lugs missing from the plastic inner so when you screw the disc on it doesnt feel too safe, a bit wobbly.
I suppose we could try to glue it to the plastic behind, maybe that would work!
Have just superglued the cover on. Didnt realise they were so easy to twist off!
Glued the two and a half lugs that were left and quickly twisted on - should do the trick I hope!
