| Change Is Not Good! | later this year i'm going to Malawi as part of a trip organised through work to help with construction at an orphanage run by a charity called Open Arms http://www.openarmsmalawi.org/ This year they are starting construction of a new site close to the shore of Lake Malawi which is where i'll be based for a week. The objective of the charity is to raise funds to provide for the relief of children in Malawi suffering from hardship and distress by reason of their social and economic circumstances. Such provision to include accommodation, and hospice accommodation, for orphaned neglected and terminally ill children and essential factors such as love, care, food and clothing, medical and nursing care and funeral expenses. The aims of the charity are: · To continue to provide shelter, foods, care, love and medical facilities for fifty orphaned or abandoned infants in the age range of one day to five years old. · To return wherever possible, immunized, fit toddlers to relations in their village or township and to monitor the 'returnees' subsequent progress. · To support impoverished grandparents or near relations who have accepted the children back into their communities. As a commitment to the trip I have to raise a minimum of £1500 - part of which pays for my flights & accommodation at the orphanage with the remainder going directly to the charity. My employers pay half towards my costs & also matches the total raised, with this again going directly to the charity. This is where you guys come in - if you are able to make a donation, however small, then this would be greatly appreciaited. As well as appealing directly for dontations i will be organsing some fun-raising activities, including a mini/ whatever ya brung run in march - http://www.mini2.com/forum/uk-irelan...ml#post3287820 If you can donate you have several options: 1. write a cheque payable to P. Smith & mail to me - PM for the address 2. make a paypal payment to pat_smith@blueyonder.co.uk 3. make a direct transfer to my bank account - PM me for details Last edited by Hat : Jan 10th, 2008 at 11:53 AM.
