| MINI2 Regular | John Cooper Special - opinions please? I am very happy with my R53 S and currently have my classic MG as a project car however...... I know that the S will go this time next year and have been offered a proposition that maybe some people can give their opinions on with regards to the second classic car. I will have to sell on my MG BUT... I have been offered a J reg Mini cooper special 1.3 John Cooper edition in great condition. It has approx 60,000 miles on and the seller is happy to replace the rusted wing as well if I agree to pay him £1500 for it. Its in pretty good condition in dark grey with black roof, with a bit left on the MOT, nice half leather seats and the wood dash, alloys etc. Id just like to know what peoples opinions are of the offer ive been made and if anyone thinks ill be happy with the car once the R53 has gone? I hope this is the right place for the post. Thanks Ben ![]() ![]() Viper Stripes| DPSM | Recaros | Miltek | Aero | GP Intercooler | JCW R56 Brakes | Alpina Dynamics |

Offline | I'd say comparing an R53 to a classic is a bit like the cliched comparing apples and oranges! The spec and price of the classic looks OK. At the risk of stating the obvious you're going to miss the speed and power aren't you? You'll probably love the John Cooper, but will surely miss the R53! SSL |

| MINI2 Regular | I will indeed but its the chance to experience the original. When i do have to say goodbye to the S, at least ill still have something Mini even if i dont buy another S for my main car. At the moment it will be an additional car for some wekend fun i suppose. ![]() Viper Stripes| DPSM | Recaros | Miltek | Aero | GP Intercooler | JCW R56 Brakes | Alpina Dynamics |

Offline | Do I understand that the R53 AND the MG will have to go, but will to be replaced by the Mini Cooper and something else? You know classic cars from the MG, so appreciate that an 18 year old Classic Mini is going to hopeless as a daily driver to replace the R53. It will look like a Mini and will be fun to drive. Don't get me wrong, I love Minis, but I'm realistic about them; it will be unreliable, rust prone (remember, it's not just the wings, but the doors, inner and outer sills, entire floorpan, boot floor, subframes etc, etc) uncomfortable, noisy and dangerous. So, as a replacement for a weekend fun car it will be okay when it's not being fixed, or waiting to be fixed. BUT you're going to need something else as well for serious transport. Tigger. Such a shame after 4 otherwise very happy years on here If you are a friend, I can always be contacted here! |

| MINI2 Regular | It wont be an everyday car! The MG will go and this will replace it. When the R53 goes next year it will be replaced but perhaps with something a little less exciting and possibly with much less character ![]() It really is to replace my current project car and down the line when the R53 goes ill at least still have something Miniish ![]() Viper Stripes| DPSM | Recaros | Miltek | Aero | GP Intercooler | JCW R56 Brakes | Alpina Dynamics |

Offline | Do you use the MG top-down? That would be what I would miss in a weekend car. If I had the cash, I'd replace the MINI with a Morgan myself. I've had old open cars, but never a new one. |

| MINI2 Regular | The MG in question is a GT so hard top. We do have another MG roadster version currently being rebuilt but will realisticly probably be another year or so untill its ready. My dad will take the roadster once finished although i will have use of it if i wish. ![]() Viper Stripes| DPSM | Recaros | Miltek | Aero | GP Intercooler | JCW R56 Brakes | Alpina Dynamics |
