I've not said anything in this thread so far, but I can't just let that go.

Can you honestly tell me you read that line and can see any positive side whatsoever?

Unless I am completely reading that wrong, AutoForums are basically saying that, whilst they have the time to take money off the Privilege Members and the Sponsors (I'm sorry, 'Supporting Vendors' is just too American for me!) they don't have time to actually run the site?

I'm sorry Ron, I respect and admire you for what you do for this site and have no desire to fall out with you, but if you are happy to act as free labour for a company whose paid employees cannot be bothered to do anything you are a fool.

Bloody hell!

What was all the fuss about????

I only discovered this thread this morning, and being in and out of the office all day I started to read it at work and continued to read it when I got home, I read every single post!! was temped to post several times throughout reading, but held off.
But what do you know I missed the whole issue by the time I got to the end we had a resolution!

Sorry to see that the site has gone this way where people feel they have no choice but to leave, that mods have to "mod" according to corporate rules.
I don't have the same time that I used to have to spend on MINI2 (obvious to some people) believe me I spent a lot of time in here a few years ago! and i along with a lot of others have noticed the changes that has happened on the site, the change of mood, the whole feel of the place. I think it's sad to see it! I have always found the site very informative and was my education whilst awaiting the delivery of our 1st MINI, but it was more than that! -- we have had some serious adventures, numerous trips to the UK, the south of Ireland, and even the USA for California Dreamin 2 years ago! but most overwelming thing that I have always said about the site was the sheer number people we have met from such diverse backgrounds, races, religions and classes all with one common bond!
We have now have a really great bunch of friends that we have made since joining the site and I would have to say that I now know that some of these people will be friends for life!!

Barry

They are maintaining the site and handling all the technical aspects. From my perspective the only things that's changed for me is that I now get to bug them to add Bells and Whistles rather than Paul, and Paul isn't around as much to give us guidance in dealing with personal issues. Given free reign to develop guidelines as we see fit is far better than having some we don't like jammed down our throats.

Just been thinking about that Scrogg , I run a Mini and MINI related business and imagine if I said to My Friends and Customers Ok You guys I have no time to bother with the Day to Day hassle of my business --let You guys work away for no reward and send me the money to my villa in Eze , what a wonderful idea !!!!!!! now how do I pull that one off , I say it again well done mods for trying to keep things alive for all of us to enjoy , but these new owners have some cheek to think things will continue as before when they don't have the common courtesy to make a public statement here .

I wanted to take a moment and post in this thread to correct some of the information that I believe was misunderstood.

AutoForums.com has not changed any policies on the site regarding what is acceptable to post, moderation rules, etc. We realize that mini2.com was a successful site before we arrived and we've done everything in our power to not interrupt what was created here previous. We've taken a very hands off approach so that the community and membership can continue on the path that it has always been.

About the only changes we've made since we've been here is to break out the supporting vendor categories so that they get more exposure. We've fixed a few bugs since we've been here behind the scenes and we have a few more items on our todo list still.

AutoForums.com is not a large corporation -- we are a small group of automotive enthusiasts -- 3 people to be exact All of us have been car fanatics for years and that is what lead us into the business that we are in. We realize we are very lucky to be able to work with something that we are truly passionate about.

Again, our main goal here has been to work behind the scenes on the technical stuff so that the moderators and administration team can concentrate on keeping the community moderated in the manner with which it has always been moderated. We want to disrupt as little as possible.

Hope this helps answer some of the questions.

If it wasn't for the people on here who give there own time to organise events and runs, there would be no social side to this website at all. And if it wasn't for those who give there time on here to moderate this website, then there would be no mini2 fullstop.

Not everything in life is about how much financial reward you receive for your efforts. If it was then things like mini2 would never exist. I think people like Miniac should be applauded personally.

um maybe some of them!

....but sit back and let the mods and admins get on with it and mod in the manner as before? ....it seems clear from reading through all of the above, that the mods didn't agree with the process that they were being asked to use??

You're right, it's not, which is why the pertinent phrase from my post is "...if you are happy to act as free labour for a company whose paid employees cannot be bothered to do anything..."

I was not questioning or criticising in any way what Ron or any of the Moderators do to help make this site what it is, I was questioning why anyone would want to do it when the (paid) owners have stated they have no time to do it themselves.

The problem was that there were NO guidelines in place. I redirected 4 of Mikey's product announcements because that's what done with all other vendors announcements.

Mikey is back and I think he has forgiven me. The Moderators are now developing guidelines that will work to the satisfaction of all. AutoForms has made a public statement addressing the situation.

Can we all move on and put this behind us?

having just read all 15 pages, glad to see it's been resolved and hopefully won't flare up again!

But I still feel I need to find where the button for unsubcribe to privelidge membership!

As I see it it was paid to help the upkeep of the site, now they owners are making money why should I pay for them!

I'd rather it was paid as extra entry money for Mikey's lakes tour!

Get them details out!
all those in support get booked!

Assuming you use PayPal, you have to unsubscribe on your PayPal account page, not anywhere on Mini2
