Offline | Welll even the best laid plans go belly up. Well I put a deposit on what I thought was to be my new Mini last week. (http://www.mini2.com/forum/general-d...cant-wait.html). Well the guy was an absolute pain to deal with. The Mini was a steal but man, what a hassle otherwise. I left a deposit to him, the car was financed to his wife and then to top it off the title was held by her ex employer. Well it was getting all to messy for me so I bailed on the deal. The guy had the nerve to blame everything but him for the transaction taking forever. He seemed to think even the RTA (Roads and Traffic Authority) should bend to his will. Well naturally I needed to find another Mini. As all good things are meant to be to those who wait an even better car came up. A beautiful 04 Mini Chili R53 MY05 in electric blue with a range of options I really wanted. It has Chrono gauges, sunroof, chili pack, Harmon Kardon sounds, Xenon headlights, etc etc etc. Best of all it has a low low 38,000K Kms on it. ![]() The dealer was a great guy to deal with and negotiated well until we reached what we both feel was a fair price. Well a good price really as most private sellers want more. Hell he even sent me super high res photos to find the 1 only stone chip, which wont be there when I pick it up. I am flying down with the family next Thursday to pick it up in Melbourne for the 1000km drive home. Which we are doing over 2 days up the nice winding coast road ![]() Here are some pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When I was young I spent 75% of my money on fast cars, women and alcohol. I guess I wasted the rest. |

Offline | Congrats, looks like a good one. Enjoy the drive back, should be plenty of time to get to know your new car! P.S the Harmon/Kardon is fantastic, you will love it. James. |

Offline | I am sure we will enjoy the drive home. The kids are already making a list of where to stop. Luckily the 2 days to get home is not written in stone as the neighbour can look after the dog and we have 3 days before my wife has to work again. Thankfully the kids are 9 and 11 and still fit in a Mini easily ![]() When I was young I spent 75% of my money on fast cars, women and alcohol. I guess I wasted the rest. |
