Scotland HELP, A worrying Noise

Hello

My mini has developed a strange noise.

Starting from cold the noise is easy to hear, once warm it is a bit quieter but still noticeable.

Put the clutch in and the noise disappears, let the clutch back out and the noise appears again.

Knocking noise happens betwwen 2 and 3 times per second.

Any ideas ?

Cheers

Could be anything from thrust bearing to clutch to gearbox!

get yourself of to the dealer and get it checked

I also suffer from this problem, i run my car into my mini dealer the other day and spoke to a technitian, he said he had experienced this before but he said it does happen on many of the vehicles and that when it makes that noise starting from cold, you shouldn't worry about anything.
It is an annoying sound though!!!

Sounds like the old thrust bearing problem....its a common one and does present rather like how you describe. Not cheap job I'm sorry to say

Hope its something less dramatic
