 strange noise coming from the gear box hi there, I am looking for some advice. I recently bought an 02 mini one and it is making a strange noise. I believe the noise (which sounds like a rubbing noise, and is pretty loud) is coming from the gear box. The noise only occurs in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear and is not there when foot is on the clutch. A friend of mini who also owns a mini thinks that the "THREAD BEARING" might need to be replaced. I have booked the car into my local mini dealership and they are going to have a look and give me a quote for the work. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? How much approx did it cost to repair/ replace. Thanks  ,Vic_W  |
