Hi All

Im looking to buy a Cooper S budget around 11k.

I have seen some really nice 04's with low mileage around this price , are there any probs buying one privatley if it has all the service stamps and tlc left ?

I have heard that there are gearbox problems pre july 04 is this anything to be concerned about also is 11k too much for an 04 plate im finding it difficult to work out prices on 2nd hand minis as the extras seem to adjust the price.

sorry if these have been asked before or im being daft!

Also what do you all think of the british racing green ??

I just sold my 02 MCS for £9500, low mileage, so your price seems reasonable.

Had no problems with my gearbox except for a slight lack of feel compared to the July 04 onwards.

BRG is a great choice IMHO.

seems fair as it will be pre-face lift, i was offered 10k trade in on my 54reg S the other day.

BRG is a fine choice

Mine was a BRG, the only thing i found was that the colour doesn't hold its value as well as say the popular Red .. I'd haggle a bit on this basis

Can I ask what you think this is worth and if you thinkit is a good buy as im struggling to get a comparison on the price

If you goto to ebay.co.uk and type in mini cooper s green its the all green one with 24k on it

Gearbox issues before facelift was in relation to Coopers and ONEs. The S never really had an issue. 60k on a 52 plate in mine, tuned with track and strip work.

If it has TLC and full service history and you testdrive it then its probably gonna be fine, good if it had a bit of warrantee, or if you could speak to BMW about the extended warrantee options?! Its not worse than any other car bought privatly.

BRG is a mint colour on the S...its pretty rare as the majority of Ss I see are Dark silver, black or electric blue. BRG with white is a nice colour combo and a little rarer than most of the colours IMO, so good for resale

Perhaps you should have emailed or phoned me from the classifieds as I have just sold a lovely 55 MCS for 10,900 and would prefer that it went to a fellow MINI2 user rather than the dealer who bought it off me through Autotrader.

Shame really as whoever end up with my car got a bargain!
