What will my Cooper S be worth in...

Hi guys!,

Just a quick and random question but does hold some importance!

Im due to pick up my new Astro Black S in a couple of weeks (08 plate)

Would anyone be about to answer this hypothetical question?

'What will the car be worth both privately/trade in 2 years (March 10') and 3 years (March 11') ?"

It is highley speced with chilipack, leather lounge, satnav, bluetooth, sunroof, aerokit, manuel gearbox, flame spokes, as well as many other extras"

Dont be afraid to reply.....im well aware that its bound to 'fall out of bed' but am under the impression that mini hold their values relatively well. Nonetheless will take replys with a pinch of salt and try not to do too much damage when falling off my chair!!

If i keep it for 2 years it would have approx 15k miles and 3 years around the 22k mark

Many thanks guys!

Who knows how well the values will be held in a few years time, but if you were to go with how the market used to be, take the list price of the MCS, including Chili pack, and in 3 years time it should still be worth 60% of that price.

The options are what make it personal, and yes will help to make it more easy to sell to some potential buyers, but they won't be worth 60% of what you were charged for them now, a few hundred quid for things like sat nav and leather if you are lucky

Its only a forum you know!

Why not just look at a mini for sale now that has the same basic extras, mileage, age that yours will have? Figure out what it cost new, do a bit of math and then apply the percentage of devaluation to the one you plan on buying. It'll likely be just as close as anyone elses guess with the amount of varilbles that have to be taken into account.

Have you not done the options deal? If not, my new Mini Cooper S will placed at guarenteed value of £10500 in 3 years time on my options deal! That's amazing to still have half of the car's value in 3 years. Obviously, as I'm having the Chili pack and JCW stuff put on it, it might be worth more and especially privately.

As long as you keep it in good-nick and keep the milage as low as possible, you'll get the most out of it.

According to What Car your car will be worth 11,500 and 10,000 in 2 and 3 years time. Perhaps you can add several hundred for the Chilli pack although to be honest it is an expected extra in the second hand market so What Car valuations may be based on Chilli pack cars. Enjoy all the other goodies (leather, sat nav, sunroof, etc) you'll be lucky to get 200-300 extra for them. This is all good news by the way, buy a big car and lose more in a year than your Mini's total purchase price. A Peugeot 607 loses over £20k in it's first year .

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs
